Removal & Installation

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions section.
  2.  
  3. For 3.5L engines, remove v-bank cover sub-assembly.
  4.  
  5. For 3.5L engines, remove cool air intake duct seal.
  6.  
  7. For 2.4L and 2.5L engines, remove air cleaner assembly.
  8.  
  9. For 3.5L engines, remove air cleaner cap sub-assembly.
  10.  
  11. For 2.4L and 2.5L engines, remove air cleaner inlet assembly.
  12.  
  13. For 3.5L engines, remove air cleaner inlet sub-assembly.
  14.  
  15. For 3.5L engines, remove No. 1 air cleaner inlet
  16.  
  17. Remove front bumper assembly.
  18.  
  19. Remove radiator support upper.
  20.  
  21. Remove the bolt and hood lock support sub-assembly.
  22.  
  23. Disconnect air conditioner tube and accessory, as follows:
    NOTE
    Seal the openings of the disconnected parts using vinyl tape to prevent entry of moisture and foreign matter.

    1. Remove the bolt and disconnect the air conditioning tube assembly from the condenser.
    2.  
    3. Remove the O-ring from the air conditioning tube assembly.
    4.

  25. Disconnect cooler refrigerant discharge pipe, as follows:
    NOTE
    Seal the openings of the disconnected parts using vinyl tape to prevent entry of moisture and foreign matter.

    1. Remove the bolt and disconnect the cooler refrigerant discharge pipe from the condenser.
    2.  
    3. Remove the O-ring from the cooler refrigerant discharge pipe.
    4.

  27. Remove the 4 bolts and condenser.

To install:

  1. Install the cooler condenser assembly with the 4 bolts and tighten to 44 inch lbs. (5 Nm). Capacity: 40 cc (1.4 fl. oz.). Compressor oil: ND-OIL 8 or equivalent.
    NOTE
    If the condenser is replaced with a new one, add compressor oil to the new condenser.

  3. Install the air conditioner tube and accessory, as follows:
    1. Remove the attached vinyl tape from the tube and the connecting part of the cooler condenser assembly.
    2.  
    3. Sufficiently apply compressor oil (ND-OIL 8 or equivalent) to a new O-ring and the fitting surface of the hose joint.
    4.  
    5. Install the O-ring on the air conditioning tube assembly.
    6.  
    7. Install the air conditioner tube and accessory on the cooler condenser assembly with the bolt and tighten to 87 inch lbs. (9.8 Nm).
    8.

  5. Install the No. 1 cooler refrigerant discharge hose, as follows:
    1. Remove the attached vinyl tape from the pipe and the connecting part of the cooler condenser assembly.
    2.  
    3. Sufficiently apply compressor oil (ND-OIL 8 or equivalent) to a new O-ring and the fitting surface of the pipe joint.
    4.  
    5. Install the O-ring on the No. 1 cooler refrigerant discharge hose.
    6.  
    7. Install the No. 1 cooler refrigerant discharge hose and tighten to 87 inch lbs. (9.8 Nm).
    8.

  7. Install the upper radiator support.
  8.  
  9. Install the hood lock assembly.
  10.  
  11. The remainder of installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
  12.  
  13. Charge with refrigerant, warm up the engine, and check for refrigerant leak.
  14.  

Hybrid Models



Specific to:

Toyota Camry 2007-2008

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Remove the air cleaner cap sub-assembly.
  4.  
  5. Remove the air cleaner inlet assembly.
  6.  
  7. Remove the front bumper assembly.
  8.  
  9. Remove the radiator support upper.
  10.  
  11. Remove the bolt and hood lock support sub-assembly.
  12.  
  13. Disconnect air conditioner tube and accessory, as follows:
    NOTE
    Seal the openings of the disconnected parts using vinyl tape to prevent entry of moisture and foreign matter.

    1. Remove the bolt and disconnect the air conditioning tube assembly from the condenser.
    2.  
    3. Remove the O-ring from the air conditioning tube assembly.
    4.

  15. Disconnect cooler refrigerant discharge pipe, as follows:
    NOTE
    Seal the openings of the disconnected parts using vinyl tape to prevent entry of moisture and foreign matter.

    1. Remove the bolt and disconnect the cooler refrigerant discharge pipe from the condenser.
    2.  
    3. Remove the O-ring from the cooler refrigerant discharge pipe.
    4.

  17. Remove the 4 bolts and condenser.

To install:

  1. Install the cooler condenser assembly with the 4 bolts and tighten to 44 inch lbs. (5 Nm). Capacity: 40 cc (1.4 fl. oz.). Compressor oil: ND-OIL 8 or equivalent.

  5. Install the No. 1 cooler refrigerant discharge hose, as follows:
    1. Remove the attached vinyl tape from the pipe and the connecting part of the cooler condenser assembly.
    2.  
    3. Sufficiently apply compressor oil (ND-OIL 8 or equivalent) to a new O-ring and the fitting surface of the pipe joint.
    4.  
    5. Install the O-ring on the No. 1 cooler refrigerant discharge hose.
    6.  
    7. Install the No. 1 cooler refrigerant discharge hose and tighten to 87 inch lbs. (9.8 Nm).

  7. Install the upper radiator support.

    3. Remove the O-ring from the air conditioning tube assembly.

    1. Remove the bolt and disconnect the cooler refrigerant discharge pipe from the condenser.

    3. Remove the O-ring from the cooler refrigerant discharge pipe.

To install:

  5. Install the No. 1 cooler refrigerant discharge hose, as follows:
    1. Remove the attached vinyl tape from the pipe and the connecting part of the cooler condenser assembly.
    2.  
    3. Sufficiently apply compressor oil (ND-OIL 8 or equivalent) to a new O-ring and the fitting surface of the pipe joint.
    4.  
    5. Install the O-ring on the No. 1 cooler refrigerant discharge hose.
    6.  
    7. Install the No. 1 cooler refrigerant discharge hose and tighten to 87 inch lbs. (9.8 Nm).
    8.

  7. Install the upper radiator support.
  8.  
  9. Install the hood lock assembly.
  10.  
  11. The remainder of installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
  12.  
  13. Charge with refrigerant, warm up the engine, and check for refrigerant leak.
