2.4L Engine

Specific to:

Toyota Camry 2009-2010

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  4.  
  5. Drain the engine oil
  6.  
  7. Loosen the lug nuts on the left front wheel.
  8.  
  9. Apply the parking brake, block the rear wheels, then raise and safely support the front of the vehicle securely on jack stands.
  10.  
  11. Remove the left front wheel.
  12.  
  13. Remove the right hand front fender apron seal.
  14.  
  15. Remove the left and right hand engine under cover.
  16.  
  17. Remove the drive belt.

  19. Remove the crankshaft pulley and take note of the following:

    For TMMK made crankshaft pulley, use Special Tool 09960-10010 to fix the pulley in place and to loosen the bolt. Use Special Tool 09950-40011 to remove the pulley and bolt.
     
    For TMC made crankshaft pulley, use Special Tools 09213-54015 and 09330-00021 to fix the pulley in place and to loosen the bolt. Use Special Tools 09950-50013 and 09950-40011 to remove the pulley and bolt.

  21. Using a knife, cut off the oil seal lip. Using a screwdriver with the tip taped, pry out the oil seal.
  22.  
  23. After the removal, check the crankshaft for damage. If it is damaged, smooth the surface with 400-grit sandpaper.
  24.  

To install:

  1. Apply MP grease to a new oil seal lip. Keep the lip free from foreign matter.
  2.  
  3. Using Special Tool 09223-22010 and a hammer, tap in the oil seal until its surface is flush with the rear oil seal retainer edge.

  5. For TMMK made pulleys, align the pulley set key with the key groove of the pulley. Using Special Tool 09960-10010, keep the pulley in place and tighten the bolt to: 125 ft. lbs. (170 Nm).
  6.  
  7. For TMC made pulleys, align the pulley set key with the key groove of the pulley. Using Special Tools 09213-54015 and 09330-00021, keep the pulley in place and tighten the bolt to 133 ft. lbs. (180 Nm).
  8.  
  9. To complete installation, reverse remaining removal procedure.
  10.  
  11. Check engine for oil leaks.
  12.  

Hybrid

Specific to:

Toyota Camry 2007-2008


CAUTION
Before inspecting the high-voltage system or disconnecting the low voltage connector of the inverter with converter assembly, take safety precautions, such as wearing insulated gloves and removing the service plug grip to prevent electrical shocks. Make sure to turn the power switch off before removing the service plug grip. After removing the service plug grip, put it in your pocket to prevent other technicians from accidentally reconnecting it while you are working on the high-voltage system.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.

  5. Drain the engine oil
  6.  
  7. Loosen the lug nuts on the left front wheel.
  8.

  11. Remove the left front wheel.
  12.  
  13. Remove the right hand front fender apron seal.
  14.  
  15. Remove the left and right hand engine under cover.
  16.  
  17. Remove the drive belt.

  19. Remove the crankshaft pulley and take note of the following:

    For TMMK made crankshaft pulley, use Special Tool 09960-10010 to fix the pulley in place and to loosen the bolt. Use Special Tool 09950-40011 to remove the pulley and bolt.
     
    For TMC made crankshaft pulley, use Special Tools 09213-54015 and 09330-00021 to fix the pulley in place and to loosen the bolt. Use Special Tools 09950-50013 and 09950-40011 to remove the pulley and bolt.

  19. Remove the crankshaft pulley and take note of the following:

    For TMMK made crankshaft pulley, use Special Tool 09960-10010 to fix the pulley in place and to loosen the bolt. Use Special Tool 09950-40011 to remove the pulley and bolt.
     
    For TMC made crankshaft pulley, use Special Tools 09213-54015 and 09330-00021 to fix the pulley in place and to loosen the bolt. Use Special Tools 09950-50013 and 09950-40011 to remove the pulley and bolt.
