Removal & Installation



Specific to:

Toyota Camry 2007-2008

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Remove the front wheel.
    NOTE
    Do not let brake fluid sit on painted surfaces, as it will eat through the paint. Wash it off immediately.

  4.  
  5. Drain brake fluid.
  6.  
  7. Remove the union bolt and gasket from the disc brake cylinder assembly, then disconnect the flexible hose.
    NOTE
    Remove the disc brake cylinder assembly while holding both of the brake pads or the anti-squeal springs may fall off the brake pads.

  9. Hold the front disc brake cylinder slide pin and remove the 2 bolts and disc brake cylinder assembly.
  10.  

To install:

  1. Install the disc brake cylinder assembly with the 2 bolts and tighten to 25 ft. lbs. (34 Nm).
  2.  
  3. Check the installation of the anti-squeal springs. Visually check for any clearance between the brake pad and front disc brake pad support plates.
    NOTE
    If the anti-squeal springs are installed correctly, there will be no clearance between the brake pad and the front disc brake pad support plates. If there is a clearance, the anti-squeal springs may not be installed properly.


    NOTE
    Check all 4 contact surfaces between the brake pad and the front disc brake pad support plates.

  4.  
  5. Connect the flexible hose with the union bolt and a new gasket and tighten to 21 ft. lbs. (29 Nm).
    NOTE
    Install the front brake flexible hose lock securely in the lock hole in the disc brake cylinder.

  6.  
  7. Fill reservoir with brake fluid.
  8.  
  9. Bleed master cylinder.
  10.  
  11. Bleed brake line.
  12.  
  13. Bleed brake actuator assembly.
  14.  
  15. Inspect for brake fluid leak.
  16.  
  17. Inspect brake fluid level in reservoir.
  18.  
  19. Install the front wheel and tighten the lug nuts to 76 ft. lbs. (103 Nm).
  20.

Toyota Camry 2009-2010

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
