  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Discharge fuel system pressure.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect battery negative cable.
  6.  
  7. Remove rear seat cushion assembly.
  8.  
  9. Remove rear floor service hole cover.
  10.  
  11. Separate fuel pump tube sub-assembly.
  12.  
  13. Remove fuel tank vent tube set plate.
  14.  
  15. Remove fuel suction tube assembly with pump and gauge.
  16.  
  17. Drain fuel.
  18.  
  19. Remove center exhaust pipe assembly.
  20.  
  21. Disconnect no. 2 parking brake cable assembly.
  22.  
  23. Disconnect no. 3 parking brake cable assembly.
  24.  
  25. Remove rear stabilizer BAR No. 1 bracket.
  26.  
  27. Remove lower center fuel tank protector, as follows:
    1. Remove the 4 bolts and the (Except SE grade).
    2.  
    3. Remove the 4 bolts and 2 clips (for SE Grade).
    4.  
    5. Remove the fuel tank protector (for SE Grade).
      NOTE
      Check that there is no dirt or other foreign objects around the connector before removing fuel tubes, and clean the connector as necessary.


      NOTE
      It is necessary to prevent mud or dirt from entering the connector. If mud or dirt gets in the connector, the O-rings may not seal properly.


      NOTE
      Do not use any tools in these operations.


      NOTE
      Do not bend, kink or twist the nylon tubes. Protect the connector by covering it with a plastic bag.


      NOTE
      When the pipe and connector are stuck, push and pull the connector to release and pull the connector out carefully.

  29. Disconnect the fuel pump tube, as follows:
    1. Pinch the tabs of the retainer to remove the lock claws and pull it down as shown in the illustration.

    3. Pull out the fuel tank main tube.

  31. Pinch the tube connector and then pull out the No. 1 fuel tube.

  33. Set up a transmission jack underneath the fuel tank.
  34.  
  35. Remove the 2 set bolts of the fuel tank bands.
    NOTE
    Check that there is no dirt or other foreign objects around the connector before removing fuel tubes, and clean the connector as necessary.


    NOTE
    It is necessary to prevent mud or dirt from entering the connector. If mud or dirt gets in the connector, the O-rings may not seal properly.


    NOTE
    Do not use any tools in these operations.


    NOTE
    Do not bend, kink or twist the nylon tubes. Protect the connector by covering it with a plastic bag.


    NOTE
    When the pipe and connector are stuck, push and pull the connector to release and pull the connector out carefully.

  37. Remove the hose clamp and disconnect the fuel tank to filter pipe hose (except PZEV).
  38.  
  39. Remove the clamp and disconnect the fuel tank to filter pipe hose (for PZEV).

  41. Slightly lower the transmission jack.
  42.  
  43. Disconnect the fuel tank vent hose from the charcoal canister, as follows:
    1. Push the connector deep into the charcoal canister to release the locking pin.
    2.  
    3. Pinch portion A.
    4.  
    5. Pull out the connector.

  45. Remove the 2 pins and 2 fuel tank bands as shown in the illustration.

  47. Remove the 4 clip nuts.

To install:

  1. Install the 4 clip nuts.
  2.  
  3. Install the 2 fuel tank bands with the 2 pins.
  4.  
  5. Connect the fuel tank vent hose.
  6.  
  7. Connect the fuel tank inlet pipe with the fuel filter pipe clamp.
  8.  
  9. Tighten the 2 set bolts of the fuel tank bands to 29 ft. lbs. (39 Nm).
  10.  
  11. Connect the No. 1 fuel tube, as follows:
    1. Push the fuel tube connector into the pipe until the fuel tube connector makes a "click" sound.
      NOTE
      Check that there is no damage or foreign objects on the connected part.


      NOTE
      After connecting, check if the fuel tube connector and the pipe are securely connected by trying to pull them apart.

  13. Connect the fuel pump tube, as follows:
    1. Push in the fuel pump tube connector to the pipe and push up the retainer so that the claws engage.
      NOTE
      Check that there is no damage or foreign objects on the connected part.


      NOTE
      After connecting, check if the fuel tube connector and the pipe are securely connected by trying to pull them apart.

  15. Install the lower center fuel tank protector and tighten to 48 inch lbs. (5.4 Nm).
  16.  
  17. Install the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly with the bolt and nut and tighten to 53 inch lbs. (6 Nm), and 75 inch lbs. (8.5 Nm).
  18.  
  19. Install the No. 2 parking brake cable assembly with the bolt and nut and tighten to 53 inch lbs. (6 Nm), and 75 inch lbs. (8.5 Nm).
  20.  
  21. Install the center exhaust pipe assembly.
  22.  
  23. Install the fuel suction tube assembly with pump and gauge.
  24.  
  25. Install the fuel tank vent tube set plate.
  26.  
  27. Connect the fuel pump tube sub-assembly.
  28.  
  29. Add fuel.
  30.  
  31. Connect battery negative cable.
  32.  
  33. Inspect for fuel leak and exhaust gas leak.
  34.  
  35. Install the rear floor service hole cover.
  36.  
  37. Install the rear seat cushion assembly.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions section.

  7. Remove rear seat cushion assembly.
  8.  
  9. Remove rear floor service whole cover.
  10.  
  11. Separate fuel pump tube sub-assembly.
  12.  
  13. Remove fuel tank vent tube set plate.
  14.  
  15. Remove fuel suction tube assembly with pump and gauge.
  16.  
  17. Drain fuel.
  18.  
  19. Remove center exhaust pipe assembly.
  20.  
  21. Disconnect no. 2 parking brake cable assembly.
  22.  
  23. Disconnect no. 3 parking brake cable assembly.
  24.  
  25. Remove rear stabilizer BAR No. 1 bracket.
  26.  
  27. Remove lower center fuel tank protector, as follows:
    1. Remove the 4 bolts and the (Except SE grade).
    2.  
    3. Remove the 4 bolts and 2 clips (for SE Grade).

To install:

  1. Install the 4 clip nuts.
  2.  
  3. Install the 2 fuel tank bands with the 2 pins.
  4.  
  5. Connect the fuel tank vent hose.
  6.  
  7. Connect the fuel tank inlet pipe with the fuel filter pipe clamp.
  8.  
  9. Tighten the 2 set bolts of the fuel tank bands to 29 ft. lbs. (39 Nm).
  10.  
  11. Connect the No. 1 fuel tube, as follows:
    1. Push the fuel tube connector into the pipe until the fuel tube connector makes a "click" sound.
      NOTE
      Check that there is no damage or foreign objects on the connected part.


      NOTE
      After connecting, check if the fuel tube connector and the pipe are securely connected by trying to pull them apart.

  23. Install the fuel suction tube assembly with pump and gauge.
  24.  
  25. Install the fuel tank vent tube set plate.
  26.  
  27. Connect the fuel pump tube sub-assembly.
  28.  
  29. Add fuel.
  30.  
  31. Connect battery negative cable.
  32.  
  33. Inspect for fuel leak and exhaust gas leak.
  34.  
  35. Install the rear floor service hole cover.
  36.  
  37. Install the rear seat cushion assembly.
