Diagnosis & Testing
Door Lock Motor
Front

Specific to:

Toyota Camry 2007-2008

  1. Remove the front door lock assembly.
    NOTE
    If the results are not as specified, replace the door lock assembly.

  2.  
  3. Apply battery voltage to the door lock and check operation of the door lock motor:
    1. Measurement condition: Battery positive (+) at Terminal 4, Battery negative (-) at Terminal 1 in the LOCK position.
    2.  
    3. Measurement condition: Battery positive (+) at Terminal 1, Battery negative (-) at Terminal 4 in the UNLOCK position.

  5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) and check operation of the door key lock and unlock switch:
    1. Connection: 7-9 at ON (Door lock set to LOCK) at below 1 ohm.
    2.  
    3. Connection: 7-9, 7-10 at OFF (Free) at 10 kilo ohms or higher.
    4.  
    5. Connection: 7-10 at ON (Door lock set to LOCK) at below 1 ohm.

  7. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) and check operation of the door unlock detection switch:
    1. Connection: 7-8 with Battery positive (+) at Terminal 4, Battery negative (-) at Terminal 1 in the LOCK position at 10 kilo ohms or higher.
    2.  
    3. Connection: 7-8 with Battery positive (+) at Terminal 1, Battery negative (-) at Terminal 4 in the UNLOCK position at below 1 ohm.

Rear

Specific to:

Toyota Camry 2007-2008

  1. Remove the rear door lock assembly.
    NOTE
    If the results are not as specified, replace the door lock assembly.

  2.  
  3. Apply battery voltage to the door lock and check operation of the door lock motor:
    1. Measurement condition: Battery positive (+) at Terminal 4, Battery negative (-) at Terminal 1 in the LOCK position.
    2.  
    3. Measurement condition: Battery positive (+) at Terminal 1, Battery negative (-) at Terminal 4 in the UNLOCK position.

  5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) and check operation of the door unlock detection switch:
    1. Connection: 7-8 with Battery positive (+) at Terminal 4, Battery negative (-) at Terminal 1 in the LOCK position at 10 kilo ohms or higher.

    3. Connection: 7-8 with Battery positive (+) at Terminal 1, Battery negative (-) at Terminal 4 in the UNLOCK position at below 1 ohm.

Door Lock Switch
Driver Side

Specific to:

Toyota Camry 2007-2008

  1. Remove the multiplex network master switch assembly.
  2.  
  3. Measure the resistance of the door control switch:
    1. Connection: 2-1 in the LOCK position at below 1 ohm.
    2.  
    3. Connection: 2-1 in the OFF (free) position at 10 kilo ohms or higher.
    4.  
    5. Connection: 9-1 in the UNLOCK position at below 1 ohm.
    6.  
    7. Connection: 9-1 in the OFF (free) position at 10 kilo ohms or higher.

Passenger Side

Specific to:

Toyota Camry 2007-2008

  1. Remove the door lock control switch assembly.
  2.  
  3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s):
    1. Connection: 4-3 in the LOCK position at below 1 ohm.
    2.  
    3. Connection: 4-3, 2-3 at OFF (Free) at 10 kilo ohms or higher.
    4.  
    5. Connection: 2-3 in the UNLOCK position at below 1 ohm.

Motor
Front

Specific to:

Toyota Camry 2009-2010

  1. Remove the front door lock assembly.
    NOTE
    If the results are not as specified, replace the door lock assembly.

  2.  
  3. Apply battery voltage to the door lock and check operation of the door lock motor:
    1. Measurement condition: Battery positive (+) at Terminal 4, Battery negative (-) at Terminal 1 in the LOCK position.
    2.  
    3. Measurement condition: Battery positive (+) at Terminal 1, Battery negative (-) at Terminal 4 in the UNLOCK position.

  5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) and check operation of the door key lock and unlock switch:
    1. Connection: 7-9 at ON (Door lock set to LOCK) at below 1 ohm.

    3. Connection: 7-9, 7-10 at OFF (Free) at 10 kilo ohms or higher.
    4.  
    5. Connection: 7-10 at ON (Door lock set to LOCK) at below 1 ohm.

  1. Remove the rear door lock assembly.
    NOTE
    If the results are not as specified, replace the door lock assembly.

  3. Apply battery voltage to the door lock and check operation of the door lock motor:
    1. Measurement condition: Battery positive (+) at Terminal 4, Battery negative (-) at Terminal 1 in the LOCK position.
    2.  
    3. Measurement condition: Battery positive (+) at Terminal 1, Battery negative (-) at Terminal 4 in the UNLOCK position.

  5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) and check operation of the door unlock detection switch:

  1. Remove the door lock control switch assembly.
  2.  
  3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s):
    1. Connection: 4-3 in the LOCK position at below 1 ohm.
    2.  
    3. Connection: 4-3, 2-3 at OFF (Free) at 10 kilo ohms or higher.
    4.  
    5. Connection: 2-3 in the UNLOCK position at below 1 ohm.

Removal & Installation
Door Lock Motor
Front

Specific to:

Toyota Camry 2009-2010

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Remove front door lower frame bracket garnish.
  4.  
  5. Remove front door inside handle bezel plug.
  6.  
  7. Remove assist grip cover.
  8.  
  9. Remove front door trim board sub-assembly.
  10.  
  11. Remove front door inner glass weatherstrip.
  12.  
  13. Remove front door inside handle sub-assembly.
  14.  
  15. Remove front no. 1 speaker assembly.
  16.  
  17. Remove front door service hole cover.
  18.  
  19. Remove front door glass sub-assembly.
  20.  
  21. Remove front door rear lower frame sub-assembly.
  22.  
  23. Remove front door outside handle cover.
  24.  
  25. Remove front door lock assembly by performing the following:
    1. Disconnect the connector.
    2.  
    3. Using a Torx®socket wrench (T30), remove the 3 screws.

    5. Slide the front door lock assembly downward and pull out the front door lock open rod from the outside handle frame. Remove the front door lock assembly and cables as a unit.
    6.  
    7. Remove the front door lock open rod from the front door lock assembly.
    8.  
    9. Remove the front door lock remote control cable assembly.
      NOTE
      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

    10.  
    11. Using a screwdriver, disengage the 3 claws.
    12.  
    13. Remove the front door inside locking cable assembly.
    14.

To install:


NOTE
When reusing the removed front door lock assembly; replace the door lock wiring harness seal on the door lock with a new one.


NOTE
Do not allow grease or dust to adhere to the surface of the door lock where the seal attaches.


NOTE
Reusing the door lock wiring harness seal or using a damaged door lock wiring harness seal may allow water intrusion to the connection, and result in a malfunction in the front door lock assembly.

  1. Install the front door inside locking cable assembly.
  2.  
  3. Engage the 3 claws.
  4.  
  5. Install the front door lock remote control cable assembly.
  6.  
  7. Apply MP grease to the sliding parts on the front door lock assembly.
  8.  
  9. Install a new door lock wiring harness seal to the front door lock assembly.
  10.  
  11. Insert the front door lock open rod to the front door lock assembly, and set the assembly to the front door outside handle frame.
  12.  
  13. Make sure that the front door lock open rod is securely connected to the front door lock assembly.
  14.  
  15. Using a Torx®socket wrench (T30), install the front door lock assembly with the 3 screws. Tighten to 44 inch lbs. (5 Nm).
  16.  
  17. Connect the connector.
  18.  
  19. To complete installation, reverse remaining removal procedure.
  20.  
  21. Initialize the power window system circuit.

Front Door

  19. Remove front door glass sub-assembly.

  21. Remove front door rear lower frame sub-assembly.

  23. Remove front door outside handle cover.

  25. Remove front door lock assembly by performing the following:
    1. Disconnect the connector.
    2.  
    3. Using a Torx® socket wrench (T30), remove the 3 screws.

    5. Slide the front door lock assembly downward and pull out the front door lock open rod from the outside handle frame. Remove the front door lock assembly and cables as a unit.
    6.  
    7. Remove the front door lock open rod from the front door lock assembly.
    8.  
    9. Remove the front door lock remote control cable assembly.
      NOTE
      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

    10.  
    11. Using a screwdriver, disengage the 3 claws.
    12.  
    13. Remove the front door inside locking cable assembly.
    14.

To install:


NOTE

  13. Make sure that the front door lock open rod is securely connected to the front door lock assembly.

  15. Using a Torx® socket wrench (T30), install the front door lock assembly with the 3 screws. Tighten to 44 inch lbs. (5 Nm).
  16.  
  17. Connect the connector.
  18.  
  19. To complete installation, reverse remaining removal procedure.
  20.  
  21. Initialize the power window system circuit.

Rear

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.

  15. Remove rear door lock assembly by performing the following:
    1. Using a Torx®socket wrench (T30), remove the 3 screws.
    2.  
    3. Move the rear door lock assembly downward and pull the release plate out of the rear door outside handle frame.

    5. Remove the door lock wiring harness seal from the rear door lock assembly.
      NOTE
      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

    7. Using a screwdriver, disengage the claw.

    9. Remove the rear door inside locking cable assembly.
    10.  
    11. Using a screwdriver, disengage the 3 claws.
    12.  
    13. Remove the rear door inside locking cable assembly.

    1. Disconnect the connector.

    3. Remove the 3 screws and the power window regulator master switch assembly.
