Specific to:

Toyota Camry 2007-2008

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Discharge the fuel system pressure.
  4.  
  5. Place the front wheels facing straight ahead.
  6.  
  7. Remove the front wheels.
  8.  
  9. Remove both engine under covers.
  10.  
  11. Remove RH front fender apron seal.
  12.  
  13. Drain and recycle the engine coolant.
  14.  
  15. Drain the manual transaxle oil.
  16.  
  17. Drain the brake fluid.
  18.  
  19. Remove the windshield wiper motor assembly.
  20.  
  21. Remove the cowl top panel outer sub-assembly.
  22.  
  23. Remove the No. 1 engine cover sub-assembly.
  24.  
  25. Remove the drive belt.
  26.  
  27. Remove the air cleaner inlet assembly.
  28.  
  29. Remove the air cleaner cap sub-assembly.
  30.  
  31. Remove the air cleaner case sub-assembly.
  32.  
  33. Remove the battery.
  34.  
  35. Remove the RH No. 2 engine mounting stay.
  36.  
  37. Remove the engine moving control rod sub-assembly.
  38.  
  39. Remove the RH No. 2 engine mounting bracket.
  40.  
  41. Disconnect the No. 1 vacuum hose connector.
  42.  
  43. Disconnect the radiator inlet and outlet hose.
  44.  
  45. Disconnect the heater inlet and outlet water hose.
  46.  
  47. Remove the ECM.
  48.  
  49. Disconnect the engine wire.
  50.  
  51. Disconnect the transmission control cable assembly.
  52.  
  53. Disconnect the No. 1 oil reservoir to pump hose.
  54.  
  55. Disconnect the return tube sub-assembly.
  56.  
  57. Remove the clutch accumulator assembly.
  58.  
  59. Remove the clutch release cylinder assembly.
  60.  
  61. Disconnect the fuel tube sub-assembly.
  62.  
  63. Remove the generator assembly.
  64.  
  65. Separate the compressor and magnetic clutch.
  66.  
  67. Remove the front exhaust pipe assembly.
  68.  
  69. Remove both front axle hub nuts.
  70.  
  71. Remove both front stabilizer link assemblies.
  72.  
  73. Remove both front speed sensors.
  74.  
  75. Disconnect both tie rod assemblies.
  76.  
  77. Disconnect both front suspension lower no. 1 arms.
  78.  
  79. Separate both front axle assemblies.
  80.  
  81. Separate the steering sliding yoke.
  82.  
  83. Remove the engine assembly with transaxle.
  84.  
  85. Remove the vane pump assembly.
  86.  
  87. Remove front frame assembly.
  88.  
  89. Remove both front drive shaft assemblies.
  90.  
  91. Remove starter assembly.
  92.  
  93. Disconnect wire harness by performing the following:
    1. Remove the bolt and separate the ground cable.
    2.  
    3. Disconnect the back-up light switch connector.
    4.  
    5. Disconnect the wire harness.
    6.  

  94.  
  95. Remove manual transaxle assembly by performing the following:
    1. Remove the 10 bolts.
    2.  
    3. Separate and remove the transaxle from the engine.

  97. Remove the 2 bolts, clutch line and bracket.

  99. Remove the 2 bolts and wire harness clamps.

  101. Remove the 2 bolts and manual transmission case protector.
  102.  
  103. Remove the 3 bolts and engine mounting front bracket.
  104.  
  105. Remove the 4 bolts and LH engine mounting insulator.

To install:

  1. Install the LH engine mounting insulator with the 4 bolts and tighten in sequence to 47 ft. lbs. (64 Nm).

  3. Install the engine mounting front bracket with the 3 bolts and tighten to 47 ft. lbs. (64 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Install the manual transmission case protector with the 2 bolts and tighten 13 ft. lbs. (18 Nm).
  6.  
  7. Install the 2 wire harness clamps with the 2 bolts and tighten to 74 inch lbs. (8 Nm).
  8.  
  9. Install the clutch line and bracket with the 2 bolts and tighten to:
    1. Bolt A: 9 ft. lbs. (12 Nm).
    2.  
    3. Bolt B: 62 inch lbs. (7 Nm).
    4.  

  10.  
  11. To install manual transaxle assembly, perform the following:
    1. Align the input shaft with the clutch disc and install the transaxle to the engine.
    2.  
    3. Install the 10 bolts and tighten in sequence to:

      Bolt A: 47 ft. lbs. (64 Nm)
       
      Bolt B: 34 ft. lbs. (46 Nm)
       
      Bolt C: 32 ft. lbs. (44 Nm)
       
      Bolt D: 34 ft. lbs. (46 Nm)
       
      Bolt E: 47 ft. lbs. (64 Nm)

  13. Connect wire harness by performing the following:
    1. Install the wire harness.
    2.  
    3. Connect the back-up light switch connector.
    4.  
    5. Install the ground cable with the bolt and tighten to 9 ft. lbs. (12 Nm).
    6.

  15. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure.
  16.  
  17. Bleed clutch line.
  18.  
  19. Add engine coolant.
  20.  
  21. Add manual transaxle oil.
  22.  
  23. Add power steering fluid.
  24.  
  25. Bleed power steering fluid.
  26.  
  27. Check for fuel leaks.
  28.  
  29. Check for engine coolant leaks.
  30.  
  31. Check for exhaust gas leaks.
  32.  
  33. Adjust front wheel alignment.
  34.  
  35. Check ignition timing.
  36.  
  37. Check engine idle speed.
  38.  
  39. Inspect CO/HC.
  40.  
  41. Check abs speed sensor signal.
  42.  

Specific to:

Toyota Camry 2009

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Discharge the fuel system pressure.
  4.  
  5. Place the front wheels facing straight ahead.
  6.  
  7. Remove the front wheels.
  8.  
  9. Remove both engine under covers.
  10.  
  11. Remove RH front fender apron seal.
  12.  
  13. Drain and recycle the engine coolant.
  14.  
  15. Drain the manual transaxle oil.
  16.  
  17. Drain the brake fluid.
  18.  
  19. Remove the windshield wiper motor assembly.
  20.  
  21. Remove the cowl top panel outer sub-assembly.
  22.  
  23. Remove the No. 1 engine cover sub-assembly.
  24.  
  25. Remove the drive belt.
  26.  
  27. Remove the air cleaner inlet assembly.

  29. Remove the air cleaner cap sub-assembly.

  31. Remove the air cleaner case sub-assembly.
  32.  
  33. Remove the battery.
  34.  
  35. Remove the RH No. 2 engine mounting stay.
  36.  
  37. Remove the engine moving control rod sub-assembly.
  38.  
  39. Remove the RH No. 2 engine mounting bracket.
  40.  
  41. Disconnect the No. 1 vacuum hose connector.
  42.  
  43. Disconnect the radiator inlet and outlet hose.
  44.  
  45. Disconnect the heater inlet and outlet water hose.
  46.  
  47. Remove the ECM.
  48.  
  49. Disconnect the engine wire.
  50.  
  51. Disconnect the transmission control cable assembly.
  52.  
  53. Disconnect the No. 1 oil reservoir to pump hose.
  54.  
  55. Disconnect the return tube sub-assembly.
  56.  
  57. Remove the clutch accumulator assembly.
  58.  
  59. Remove the clutch release cylinder assembly.
  60.  
  61. Disconnect the fuel tube sub-assembly.
  62.  
  63. Remove the generator assembly.
  64.  
  65. Separate the compressor and magnetic clutch.
  66.  
  67. Remove the front exhaust pipe assembly.
  68.  
  69. Remove both front axle hub nuts.
  70.  
  71. Remove both front stabilizer link assemblies.
  72.  
  73. Remove both front speed sensors.
  74.  
  75. Disconnect both tie rod assemblies.
  76.  
  77. Disconnect both front suspension lower no. 1 arms.
  78.  
  79. Separate both front axle assemblies.
  80.  
  81. Separate the steering sliding yoke.
  82.  
  83. Remove the engine assembly with transaxle.
  84.  
  85. Remove the vane pump assembly.
  86.  
  87. Remove front frame assembly.
  88.  
  89. Remove both front drive shaft assemblies.
  90.  
  91. Remove starter assembly.
  92.  
  93. Disconnect wire harness by performing the following:
    1. Remove the bolt and separate the ground cable.
    2.  
    3. Disconnect the back-up light switch connector.
    4.  
    5. Disconnect the wire harness.
    6.  

  94.  
  95. Remove manual transaxle assembly by performing the following:
    1. Remove the 10 bolts.
    2.  
    3. Separate and remove the transaxle from the engine.

  97. Remove the 2 bolts, clutch line and bracket.

  99. Remove the 2 bolts and wire harness clamps.

  101. Remove the 2 bolts and manual transmission case protector.

  103. Remove the 3 bolts and engine mounting front bracket.

  105. Remove the 4 bolts and LH engine mounting insulator.

To install:

  1. Install the LH engine mounting insulator with the 4 bolts and tighten in sequence to 47 ft. lbs. (64 Nm).

  3. Install the engine mounting front bracket with the 3 bolts and tighten to 47 ft. lbs. (64 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Install the manual transmission case protector with the 2 bolts and tighten 13 ft. lbs. (18 Nm).
  6.  
  7. Install the 2 wire harness clamps with the 2 bolts and tighten to 74 inch lbs. (8 Nm).
  8.  
  9. Install the clutch line and bracket with the 2 bolts and tighten to:
    1. Bolt A: 9 ft. lbs. (12 Nm).
    2.  
    3. Bolt B: 62 inch lbs. (7 Nm).
    4.  

  10.  
  11. To install manual transaxle assembly, perform the following:
    1. Align the input shaft with the clutch disc and install the transaxle to the engine.
    2.  
    3. Install the 10 bolts and tighten in sequence to:

      Bolt A: 47 ft. lbs. (64 Nm)
       
      Bolt B: 34 ft. lbs. (46 Nm)
       
      Bolt C: 32 ft. lbs. (44 Nm)
       
      Bolt D: 34 ft. lbs. (46 Nm)
       
      Bolt E: 47 ft. lbs. (64 Nm)

  13. Connect wire harness by performing the following:
    1. Install the wire harness.
    2.  
    3. Connect the back-up light switch connector.
    4.  
    5. Install the ground cable with the bolt and tighten to 9 ft. lbs. (12 Nm).
    6.

  15. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure.
  16.  
  17. Bleed clutch line.
  18.  
  19. Add engine coolant.
  20.  
  21. Add manual transaxle oil.
  22.  
  23. Add power steering fluid.
  24.  
  25. Bleed power steering fluid.
  26.  
  27. Check for fuel leaks.
  28.  
  29. Check for engine coolant leaks.
  30.  
  31. Check for exhaust gas leaks.
  32.  
  33. Adjust front wheel alignment.
  34.  
  35. Check ignition timing.
  36.  
  37. Check engine idle speed.
  38.  
  39. Inspect CO/HC.
  40.  
  41. Check abs speed sensor signal.
