Removal & Installation



No. 1 Suspension Arm

Specific to:

Toyota Camry 2009-2010

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions section.
    NOTE
    Check if an old gasket still remains on the pipe. If so, remove it. Also, check if any bolts or nuts are rusted. If so, replace them.

  3. Remove rear wheel.
  4.  
  5. Remove center exhaust pipe assembly.
  6.  
  7. Remove tail exhaust pipe assembly.
  8.  
  9. Separate both rear stabilizer link assemblies.
  10.  
  11. Remove rear stabilizer bar no. 2 and no. 1 bracket.
  12.  
  13. Remove rear stabilizer bar.
  14.  
  15. Remove rear stabilizer bushing.
  16.  
  17. Separate rear strut rod.
    NOTE
    When removing the bolt, keep the nut from rotating.

  19. Remove the bolt, nut and separate the rear suspension No. 2 arm (outer side) from the rear axle carrier.
    NOTE
    When removing the bolt, keep the nut from rotating.

  20.  
  21. Remove the bolt, nut and the rear No. 1 suspension arm (outer side) from the rear axle carrier.

  23. Remove the 2 nuts and the LH rear suspension member lower stopper.

  25. Remove the 2 nuts and the RH rear suspension member lower stopper.

  27. Support the rear suspension member with a jack.
  28.  
  29. Remove the 2 bolts, and the rear suspension member sub-assembly.
  30.  
  31. Remove the bolt and rear No. 1 suspension arm assembly.
  32.  

To install:

  1. Install the No. 1 rear suspension arm (inner side) with the bolt, and temporarily tighten the bolt.
  2.  
  3. Install the rear No. 1 suspension arm so that the bracket leans toward the front side of the vehicle.
  4.  
  5. Ensure that the paint mark faces the rear side of the vehicle.
  6.  
  7. Set the rear No.1 suspension arm in the position shown in the illustration, and fully tighten the bolt to 74 ft. lbs. (100 Nm).

  9. Raise the rear suspension member with a jack. Install the rear suspension member with the 2 bolts and tighten to 41 ft. lbs. (56 Nm).
  10.  
  11. Install both the rear suspension member lower stoppers with the 2 nuts and tighten to:
    1. Nut A: 41 ft. lbs. (55 Nm).
    2.  
    3. Nut B: 28 ft. lbs. (38 Nm).
      NOTE
      Insert the bolt from the front of the vehicle and temporarily install the bolt.

  13. Connect the rear No.1 suspension arm (outer side) to the rear axle carrier with the bolt and nut and temporarily tighten the bolt and nut. When temporarily tightening the bolt, keep the nut from rotating.
    NOTE
    Insert the bolt from the inside of the vehicle and temporarily install the bolt.

  15. Connect the strut rod assembly rear to the axle carrier with the bolt and nut and temporarily tighten the bolt. When temporarily tightening the bolt, keep the nut from rotating.
  16.  
  17. Jack up the rear axle carrier, placing a wooden block to avoid damage. Apply load to the suspension so that the installed bolt of the rear No. 1 suspension arm (inner side) is horizontally aligned with the center of the rear axle hub.
  18.  
  19. Fully tighten rear No. 1 suspension arm and tighten the bolt to 74 ft. lbs. (100 Nm).
  20.  
  21. Fully tighten rear No. 2 suspension arm and tighten the bolt to 74 ft. lbs. (100 Nm).
  22.  
  23. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure.

No. 2 Suspension Arm

Specific to:

Toyota Camry 2009-2010

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Remove the rear wheel.
  4.  
  5. Remove the bolt, and disconnect the rear No. 2 suspension arm (inner side).
    NOTE
    When removing the bolt, keep the nut from rotating.

  7. Remove the bolt, nut and the rear No. 2 suspension arm (outer side) from the rear axle carrier.

To install:


NOTE
Ensure that the paint mark faces to the rear of the vehicle.

  1. Install the rear No. 2 suspension arm (inner side) with the bolt, and temporarily tighten the bolt.
    NOTE
    When temporarily tightening the bolt, keep the nut from rotating.

  2.  
  3. Connect the rear No. 2 suspension arm (outer side) to the rear axle carrier with the bolt and nut, and temporarily tighten the bolt.
  4.  
  5. Stabilize suspension.
  6.  
  7. Fully tighten the rear No. 2 suspension arm bolt (inner side) to 74 ft. lbs. (100 Nm).
  8.  
  9. Fully tighten the rear No. 2 suspension arm bolt (outer side) to 74 ft. lbs. (100 Nm).
  10.  
  11. Install the rear wheel.
  12.  
  13. Inspect and adjust the rear wheel alignment.
