3.5L And 3.7L Engines-Exhaust Camshaft

  1. Disconnect the engine wiring harness electrical connector from the Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor.
  2.  
  3. Remove the CMP sensor retaining bolt.
  4.  
  5. Remove the CMP sensor from the cylinder head. Discard the O-ring seal.
  6.  
  7. To install, reverse removal procedure. Install a new O-ring seal to the CMP sensor. Lightly lubricate the O-ring seal with clean engine oil.
  8.  
  9. Tighten the camshaft position (CMP) sensor bolt to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm).

  1. Disconnect the engine wiring harness electrical connector from the intake Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor.
  2.  
  3. Remove the intake CMP sensor retaining bolt.
  4.  
  5. Remove the intake CMP sensor from the cylinder head.
  6.  
  7. To install, reverse removal procedure. Install a new O-ring seal to the CMP sensor. Lightly lubricate the O-ring seal with clean engine oil. Add sealer GM P/N 12346004 to the CMP sensor bolt threads.
  8.  
  9. Tighten the camshaft position (CMP) sensor bolt to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm).
