Removal & Installation

CAUTION
Before beginning this procedure, refer to the Precautions at the beginning of this section. Only a MVAC-trained, EPA-certified, automotive technician should service the A/C system or its components.

  1. Recover the refrigerant from the system.
  2.  
  3. Remove the generator.
  4.  
  5. Remove the drive belt.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the compressor electrical connectors.
  8.  
  9. Remove the discharge hose bolt from the compressor.
  10.  
  11. Remove the suction hose from the compressor.
  12.  
  13. Remove the compressor hose assembly blocks from the compressor.
  14.  
  15. Remove the compressor mounting bolts from the compressor.
  16.  
  17. Remove the compressor .
  18.  
  19. Drain and measure the compressor oil.
  20.  

To install:

  1. Adjust the proper amount of oil to the replacement compressor.
  2.  
  3. Install the compressor.
  4.  
  5. Install the compressor mounting bolts to the compressor and tighten to 37 ft. lbs. (50 Nm).
  6.  
  7. Install the compressor hose assembly blocks to the compressor.
  8.  
  9. Install the suction hose to the compressor
  10.  
  11. Install the discharge hose bolt to the compressor and tighten to 24 ft. lbs. (33 Nm).
  12.  
  13. Connect the compressor electrical connectors.
  14.  
  15. Install the drive belt.
  16.  
  17. Install the generator.
  18.  
  19. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system.
  20.  
  21. Leak test the fittings of the components
  22.
