Removal & Installation

CAUTION
Before beginning this procedure, refer to the Precautions at the beginning of this section. Only a MVAC-trained, EPA-certified, automotive technician should service the A/C system or its components.

  1. Drain the cooling system.
  2.  
  3. Remove the radiator.
  4.  
  5. Recover the refrigerant.
  6.  
  7. Remove the receiver dryer.
  8.  
  9. Remove the condenser inlet hose bolt.
  10.  
  11. Remove the condenser inlet hose.
  12.  
  13. Remove the condenser outlet hose bolt.
  14.  
  15. Remove the condenser outlet hose.
  16.  
  17. Remove the condenser from mounts on the radiator.
  18.  
  19. Remove the condenser.
  20.  

To install:

  1. Install the condenser to the radiator.
  2.  
  3. If replacing the condenser, transfer the components from the old condenser as necessary.
  4.  
  5. Install the condenser to the mounts on the radiator.
  6.  
  7. Install the condenser retaining bolts to the radiator and tighten to 21 ft. lbs. (28 Nm).
  8.  
  9. Install the receiver dyer.
  10.  
  11. Install the condenser inlet hose.
  12.  
  13. Install the condenser inlet hose bolt and tighten to 15 ft. lbs. (20 Nm).
  14.  
  15. Install the condenser outlet hose.
  16.  
  17. Install the condenser outlet hose bolt and tighten to 15 ft. lbs. (20 Nm).
  18.  
  19. Install the radiator.
  20.  
  21. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system.
  22.  
  23. Leak test the fittings of the components
  24.

  21. Remove the condenser.

To install:

  1. Install the condenser to the radiator.
  2.  
  3. If replacing the condenser, transfer the components from the old condenser as necessary.

  5. Install the condenser to the mounts on the radiator.
  6.  
  7. Install the condenser retaining bolts to the radiator and tighten to 21 ft. lbs. (28 Nm).

  9. Install the receiver dyer.

  11. Install the condenser inlet hose.
  12.  
  13. Install the condenser inlet hose bolt and tighten to 15 ft. lbs. (20 Nm).

  15. Install the condenser outlet hose.
  16.  
  17. Install the condenser outlet hose bolt and tighten to 15 ft. lbs. (20 Nm).
  18.  
  19. Install the radiator.
  20.  
  21. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system.
  22.  
  23. Leak test the fittings of the components
  24.
