Adjustment

Drive belt tension is automatically adjusted by the drive belt tensioner.

Belt Tension Inspection

Inspect the drive belt for signs of glazing or cracking. A glazed belt will be perfectly smooth from slippage, while a good belt will have a slight texture of fabric visible. Cracks will usually start at the inner edge of the belt and run outward. All worn or damaged drive belts should be replaced immediately.

Removal & Installation

  1. Install a 3/8 inch breaker bar into the drive belt tensioner and rotate the tensioner clockwise, enough to relieve the tension on the drive belt.
  2.
  3. Slide the drive belt from the water pump pulley.
  4.
  5. Allow the drive belt tensioner to return to the relaxed position.
  6.
  7. Remove the drive belt from the remaining pulleys.
  8.

To install:

  1. Route the drive belt over all the pulleys, excluding the water pump pulley.

  5. Route the drive belt over the top of the water pump pulley.
  6.
  7. Slowly release the tension to the drive belt tensioner.
  8.
  9. Ensure the drive belt is properly aligned and seated into the grooves of the drive pulleys.
  10.
  11. Inspect for proper installation of the drive belt on the pulleys.
