Electronic Brake Control Module

Removal & Installation



  1. Install clean paper and/or shop towels between the Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM) assembly and the inner fender.
  2.  
  3. Remove the electrical connector from the EBCM.
  4.  
  5. Remove the brakes pipes from the master cylinder to the EBCM assembly.
  6.  
  7. Remove the rear brake pipe from the retainers at the cowl.
  8.  
  9. Remove the brake pipes from the EBCM assembly.
  10.  
  11. Install rubber plugs into the brake pipes to limit the loss of brake fluid and prevent contamination.
  12.  
  13. Install rubber plugs into the brake pressure modulator valve (BPMV).
  14.  
  15. Install rubber plugs into the master cylinder.
  16.  
  17. Remove the mounting nuts from the EBCM.
  18.  
  19. Remove the EBCM from the vehicle.
  20.  

To install:

  1. Install the ABS module to the vehicle.
  2.  
  3. Install mounting nuts for the ABS module.
  4.  
  5. Remove the rubber plugs from the brake pipes.
  6.  
  7. Remove the shipping plugs from the EBCM assembly.
  8.  
  9. Remove the rubber plugs from the master cylinder.
  10.  
  11. Install the brake pipes from the EBCM assembly to the master cylinder and tighten to 14 ft. lbs. (19 Nm).
  12.  
  13. Remove the electrical connector from the behind the brake booster.
  14.  
  15. Install the electrical connector.
  16.  
  17. Install the rear brake pipe to the retainer at the cowl.
  18.  
  19. Remove the paper and or shop towels from between the EBCM assembly and the inner fender.
  20.  
  21. Bleed the ABS brake system.
  22.
