Trouble Code: P0723



Output Speed Sensor Circuit Intermittent

Possible Causes:



Inspect the rear internal gear teeth for damage.
 
Visually inspect the OSS for cracks or damage.
 
Ensure the OSS is properly torqued to the transmission housing.

Brake Switch Circuit High Voltage

Possible Causes:



Inspect the brake switch for proper mounting and operation.
 
Inspect for ABS DTCs. A faulty ABS condition may contribute to setting DTC P0724.
 
It may be necessary to also clear this DTC from the engine control module (ECM).
 

Trouble Code: P0741



Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) System - Stuck Off

Possible Causes:

If the DTC is cleared, then will not reset when the vehicle is driven, some of the following conditions may exist:



Fluid contamination
 
Plugged fluid circuits
 
Restricted fluid circuits
 
Inspect transmission fluid lines to radiator. Lines may be pinched, plugged or twisted.
 
Refer to Shift Solenoid Valve State and Gear Ratio .
 
Internal damage to the torque converter may prevent TCC application.

Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) System - Stuck On

Possible Causes:

The TCC fluid hydraulically applies the TCC, possibly causing an engine stall, under the following conditions:



The TCC is hydraulically stuck ON.
 
The parking brake is applied.
 
Any gear range is selected.
 
Contamination may cause the TCC apply valve to intermittently stick in the valve body.
 
Internal damage in the torque converter may cause no TCC apply.
 
Fluid contamination

Plugged fluid circuits
 
Restricted fluid circuits

1-2 Shift Solenoid (SS) Valve Performance - No First, Fourth or Fifth Gear

Possible Causes:

If the DTC is cleared, then will not reset when the vehicle is driven, some of the following conditions may exist:



Fluid contamination
 
Plugged fluid circuits
 
Restricted fluid circuits
 
Inspect transmission fluid lines to radiator. Lines may be pinched, plugged or twisted.
 
Refer to Shift Solenoid Valve State and Gear Ratio .
 
Internal damage to the torque converter may prevent TCC application.

1-2 Shift Solenoid (SS) Valve Performance - No Second or Third Gear

Possible Causes:

The TCC fluid hydraulically applies the TCC, possibly causing an engine stall, under the following conditions:



The TCC is hydraulically stuck ON.

Contamination may cause the TCC apply valve to intermittently stick in the valve body.

Intake Air Flow System Performance

Possible Causes:



A steady or intermittent high resistance of 15 ohms or greater on the ignition 1 voltage circuit will cause the MAF sensor signal to be increased by as much as 60 g/s.
 
Depending on the current ambient temperature, and the vehicle operating conditions, a MAF sensor signal circuit that is shorted to the IAT signal circuit will cause the MAF sensor signal to be skewed or erratic. Additionally it may cause a rapid fluctuation in the IAT Sensor parameter.

Possible Causes:



The Fuel Trim Cylinder Balance diagnostic is very sensitive to HO2S design. A non-OE sensor or an incorrect part number may set a false DTC.
 
Monitoring the misfire current counters, or misfire graph, may help to isolate the cylinder that is causing the condition.

Possible Causes:



A defective transmission output speed sensor (OSS) can cause inaccurate speed reading, creating faulty replicated output speed signal. Also, inspect the OSS for cracks, loose mounting, or damage.
 
If the speed sensor passes testing, refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections .

Sediment in the valve body may cause improper operation of the TFP manual valve position switch. If sediment intrusion is suspected, clean the valve body and replace the TFP manual valve position switch.
