Adjustment



The front and rear wheel bearings are designed for the life of the vehicle and require no type of adjustment or periodic maintenance. The bearing is a sealed unit with the wheel hub and can only be removed and/or replaced as an assembly.

Removal & Installation



All Wheel Drive
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Set the parking brake.
  4.  
  5. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Rear wheel
     
    Brake caliper and rotor
     
    Mounting bolts from the driveshaft inner joint to the output shaft
     
    Wheel speed sensor and release the parking brake
     
    Axle halfshaft
     
    Hub and bearing assembly
     

  6.  

To install:

  1. Install or connect the following:

    Hub and bearing assembly. Torque the bolts to 95 ft. lbs. (129 Nm).
     
    Axle halfshaft
     
    Wheel speed sensor and set the parking brake. Torque the fastener to 105 inch lbs. (12 Nm).
     
    Driveshaft inner joint to output shaft mounting bolts. Torque the bolts to 45 ft. lbs. (61 Nm).
     
    Torque the outer CV Joint hub nut to 180 ft. lbs. (244 Nm).
     
    Brake caliper and rotor
     
    Rear wheel
     

  2.  

Front Wheel Drive
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Rear wheel
     
    Brake drum or caliper
     
    Wheel speed sensor, if equipped
     
    Hub and bearing assembly from the rear axle
     

  4.  

To install:

  1. Install or connect the following:

    Hub and bearing assembly. Tighten the bolts to 95 ft. lbs. (129 Nm).
     
    Wheel speed sensor, if equipped. Tighten the bolt to 105 inch lbs. (12 Nm).
     
    Brake drum or caliper
     
    Rear wheel
