Fuel Rail (Supply Manifold) & Injectors

Removal & Installation



2.4L Engine
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Relieve the fuel system pressure.
  4.  
  5. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Negative battery cable
     
    Wiring connectors for the injector harness
     
    Wiring harness from the brackets
     
    Fuel injector harness connectors
     
    Harness from the vehicle
     
    Quick connect fuel hose fittings from the chassis tube
     
    Fuel rail bolts
     
    Fuel rail with injectors attached
     

  6.  
  7. Rotate and pull the injectors to separate them from the fuel supply manifold.
  8.  

To install:

  1. Install or connect the following:

    Injectors with new O-ring seals
     
    Fuel rail with injectors attached. Tighten the bolts to 16 ft. lbs. (22 Nm).
     
    Quick connect fuel hose fittings to the chassis tube
     
    Harness from the vehicle
     
    Fuel injector harness connectors
     
    Wiring harness from the brackets
     
    Wiring connectors to the injector harness
     
    Negative battery cable
     

  2.  
  3. Start the engine, check for leaks and repair if necessary.
  4.  

3.0L Engines
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Relieve the fuel system pressure.
  4.  
  5. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Negative battery cable
     
    Air inlet resonator
     
    Accelerator cable
     
    Cruise control cable, if equipped
     
    Idle Air Control (IAC) valve connector
     
    Throttle Position (TP) sensor connector
     
    Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor connector
     
    Upper intake manifold vacuum lines
     
    Fuel line
     
    Ignition coil
     
    Upper intake manifold
     
    Fuel injector harness connectors
     
    Fuel supply manifold with injectors attached
     
    Injector retainer clips
     
    Injectors
     

  6.  

To install:

  1. Install or connect the following:

    Injectors with new O-ring seals
     
    Injector retainer clips
     
    Fuel supply manifold with injectors attached. Tighten the bolts to 115 inch lbs. (13 Nm).
     
    Fuel injector harness connectors
     
    Upper intake manifold
     
    Ignition coil
     
    Fuel line
     
    Upper intake manifold vacuum lines
     
    ECT sensor connector
     
    TP sensor connector
     
    IAC valve connector
     
    Cruise control cable, if equipped
     
    Accelerator cable
     
    Air inlet resonator
     
    Negative battery cable
     

  2.  
  3. Start the engine and check for leaks.
  4.  

3.3L & 3.8L Engines
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Relieve the fuel system pressure.
  4.  
  5. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Negative battery cable
     
    Upper intake manifold
     
    Quick connect fuel hose fittings from the chassis tube
     
    Fuel rail bolts
     
    Fuel rail with injectors attached
     

  6.  
  7. Rotate and pull the injectors to separate them from the fuel supply manifold.
  8.  

To install:

  1. Install or connect the following:

    Injectors with new O-ring seals
     
    Fuel rail with injectors attached. Tighten the bolts to 16 ft. lbs. (22 Nm).
     
    Quick connect fuel hose fittings to the chassis tube
     
    Upper intake manifold
     
    Negative battery cable
     

  2.  
  3. Start the engine, check for leaks and repair if necessary.

    Upper intake manifold
     
    Quick connect fuel hose fittings from the chassis tube

    Fuel rail with injectors attached

  7. Rotate and pull the injectors to separate them from the fuel supply manifold.
  8.  

To install:

  1. Install or connect the following:

    Injectors with new O-ring seals
     
    Fuel rail with injectors attached. Tighten the bolts to 16 ft. lbs. (22 Nm).
     
    Quick connect fuel hose fittings to the chassis tube
     
    Upper intake manifold
     
    Negative battery cable
     

  2.  
  3. Start the engine, check for leaks and repair if necessary.
