Shock Absorbers

Removal & Installation



  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Position the rear seat backs forward to allow access to the upper shock absorber mounting.
  4.  
  5. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Protective cap and nut from shock tower
     
    Upper mounting nut, washer and grommet
     
    Automatic Level Control (ALC) air line connection from the shock

    Lower shock mounting bolt
     
    Shock absorber
     

  6.  

To install:

  1. Install or connect the following:
    NOTE
    It may be necessary to support the lower control arm for ease of installation of the lower nut.



    Lower rubber mounting grommet and washer
     
    Shock into the tower
     
    Upper shock mounting grommet, washer and nut. Torque the nut 15 ft. lbs. (20 Nm).
     
    Protective cap to the shock tower
     
    Lower shock mounting bolt. Torque the bolt 81 ft. lbs. (110 Nm).
     



    ALC air line connection to the shock
     

  2.  
  3. Position the rear seats in their proper position.
  4.  
  5. Road test the vehicle and verify a smooth ride.
