Removal & Installation



  1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Allow the front suspension to hang free.
  2.  
  3. Remove the front tire and wheel assemblies.
  4.  
  5. Remove the lower pinch bolt from the intermediate shaft.
  6.  
  7. Remove the stabilizer shaft links.
  8.  
  9. Support the front suspension crossmember with a suitable jackstand.

  11. Remove the rear mounting bolts from the front suspension crossmember.
  12.  
  13. Remove the center mounting bolts from the front suspension crossmember.
  14.  
  15. Remove the front mounting bolts from the front suspension crossmember.
  16.  
  17. Lower the front suspension crossmember approximately 6 inches (15cm) by adjusting the jackstands down.

  19. Remove the stabilizer shaft insulator brackets retaining bolts.
  20.  
  21. Remove the stabilizer shaft from the vehicle.

To install:

  1. Install the stabilizer shaft to the vehicle.
  2.  
  3. Install the stabilizer shaft insulator brackets retaining bolts. Hand tighten the bolts.
  4.  
  5. Install the front mounting bolts to the front suspension crossmember. Hand tighten the bolts.
  6.  
  7. Install the center mounting bolts to the front suspension crossmember. Hand tighten the bolts.
  8.  
  9. Install the rear mounting bolts to the front suspension crossmember. Hand tighten the bolts.
    NOTE
    Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  10.  
  11. Install the rear mounting bolts to the front suspension crossmember.
  12.  
  13. Tighten all bolts to 71 ft. lbs. (110 Nm).
  14.  
  15. Tighten the stabilizer shaft insulator bracket bolts to 49 ft. lbs. (66 Nm).
  16.  
  17. Install the stabilizer shaft links.
  18.  
  19. Install the lower pinch bolt to the intermediate shaft.
  20.  
  21. Install the front tire and wheel assemblies.
  22.  
  23. Lower the vehicle.
