Removal & Installation




NOTE
Use the DRB scan tool to reprogram the new power train control module (PCM) with the original Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and the vehicle-s original mileage. If this step I not done, a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) may be set.

CAUTION
To avoid possible voltage spike damage to PCM, ignition key must be OFF , and negative battery cable must be disconnected before unplugging PCM connectors.

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable at battery.
  2.  
  3. If equipped, remove Transmission Control Module (TCM).
  4.  
  5. Remove coolant reserve/overflow tank.
  6.  
  7. Remove cover over electrical connectors. Cover snaps onto PCM.
  8.  
  9. Carefully unplug three 32-way connectors at PCM.
  10.  
  11. Remove three PCM bracket-to-body mounting nuts.
  12.  
  13. Remove PCM/PCM bracket assembly from vehicle.
  14.  
  15. Remove 3 PCM-to-PCM bracket bolts (screws).
  16.  

To install:


NOTE
Check pins in three 32-way electrical connectors for damage. Repair as necessary.

  1. Install PCM to its mounting bracket. Tighten three mounting bolts to 25 inch lbs. (3 Nm).
  2.  
  3. Install PCM/PCM bracket to body. Install 3 nuts and tighten 80 inch lbs. (9 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Install three 32-way connectors.
  6.  
  7. Install cover over electrical connectors. Cover snaps onto PCM.
  8.  
  9. Install coolant reserve/overflow tank.
  10.  
  11. If equipped, install Transmission Control Module (TCM).
  12.  
  13. Connect negative cable to battery.
  14.  
  15. Use the DRB scan tool to reprogram new PCM with vehicles original Identification Number (VIN) and original vehicle mileage.
