NOTE
The power steering pump is mounted in the same position on LHD and RHD vehicles. On 4.0L RHD vehicles the front bracket is different. The service procedures are the same.

  1. Remove serpentine drive belt.
  2.  
  3. Remove pressure and return hoses from pump, and drain pump.
  4.  
  5. Remove 3 pump mounting bolts through pulley access holes.
  6.  
  7. Loosen the 3 pump bracket bolts.
  8.  
  9. Tilt pump downward and remove from engine
  10.  
  11. Remove pulley from pump.

To install:

  1. Install pulley on pump.
  2.  
  3. Install pump on engine.
  4.  
  5. Tighten pump bracket bolts to 35 ft. lbs. (47 Nm)
  6.  
  7. Install 3 pump mounting bolts and tighten to 20 ft. lbs. (27 Nm)
  8.  
  9. Install the pressure and return hoses to pump.
  10.  
  11. Install drive belt.
  12.  
  13. Add power steering fluid and perform Power Steering Pump Initial Operation.
  14.  

3.7L & 4.7L Engines



  1. Siphon power steering reservoir.
  2.  
  3. Remove the cooler return hose at the reservoir.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the pressure hose nut at the pump.
  6.  
  7. Remove the pressure hose at the pump.
  8.  
  9. Remove serpentine drive belt.
  10.  
  11. Remove 3 pump mounting bolts .
  12.  
  13. Remove pulley from pump if necessary.
  14.  

To install:

  1. Install pulley on pump if removed.
  2.  
  3. Install 3 pump mounting bolts and tighten to 20 ft. lbs. (27 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Install the drive belt.
  6.  
  7. Install the pressure hose on the pump and tighten the nut to 21 ft. lbs. (28 Nm).
  8.  
  9. Install the cooler return hose at the reservoir.
  10.  
  11. Add power steering fluid.
  12.
