Stabilizer Bar (Sway Bar) & Links

Removal & Installation



  1. Raise and support the vehicle.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect stabilizer bar links from spring brackets.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the stabilizer bar brackets from the body rails. Remove the stabilizer bar and links

To install:

  1. Position the stabilizer bar links at the spring brackets. Install the attaching bolts and nuts and tighten to 55 ft. lbs. (74 Nm)
  2.  
  3. Attach the stabilizer bar to the body rail brackets with the bolts. Tighten to 40 ft. lbs. 54 Nm)
  4.  
  5. Remove the supports and lower the vehicle.
  6.  

  1. Raise and support the vehicle.
  2.  
  3. Remove both rear tire assemblies.
  4.  
  5. Remove the stabilizer bar links from stabilizer bar.
  6.  
  7. Remove the stabilizer bar retainer bolts from the retainer .
  8.  
  9. Remove the stabilizer bar by twisting it out and around the rotor and caliper from the right rear side of the vehicle.
  10.  

To install:

  1. Twist and rotate to position the stabilizer bar on the axle from the right rear side of the vehicle.
  2.  
  3. Install the retainers and bolts. Ensure the bar is centered with equal spacing on both sides. Tighten the bolts to 40 ft. lbs. (54 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Install the links to the stabilizer bar.
  6.  
  7. Tighten the nuts at the stabilizer bar to 65 ft. lbs. (88 Nm).
  8.  
  9. Install the tire and wheel assemblies.
  10.  
  11. Remove support and lower the vehicle.
  12.
