The Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) valve is a plunger assembly inserted into a grommet in the valve (rocker arm) cover. Check it by pulling it out and shaking it. You should be able to hear a rattle, showing the plunger is free. If there is no sound, install a new valve. Check the connecting hoses for stoppage or leaks. The plastic T-fittings used in this system break easily, so be careful.
