Chevrolet Blazer/Jimmy 1969-1982 Repair Guide

Two Wheel Drive Models

Two wheel drive Blazers and Jimmys can be towed on all four wheels (flat towed) at speeds of less than 35 mph for distances less than 50 miles, providing that the axle, driveline, and transmission are normally operable. The transmission should be in Neutral, the steering column unlocked, and the parking brake released. Power steering and brake assists will not work with the engine off, so the only safe way to tow is with a tow bar. Do not attach chains to the bumpers or bracketing. All attachments must be made to the frame. Safety chains should be used.

The rear wheels must be raised off the ground or the driveshaft disconnected when the transmission is not operating properly, or when speeds over 35 mph or distances greater than 50 miles will be encountered.
