Chevrolet Chevette/1000 1976-1988 Repair Guide

The Chevette diesel fuel system consists of a high pressure fuel injection pump driven by the camshaft timing belt, four pressure activated fuel injectors installed in the cylinder head and connected by fuel lines to the pump, a fuel filter with built in water separator, drain and hand primer, a fuel tank and connecting fuel feed and return lines. The injection pump is equipped with an electrically operated fuel cut-off solenoid which halts fuel flow (and the engine) whenever the ignition key is turned to the OFF position.
