The power steering hydraulic fluid level is checked with a dipstick inserted into the pump reservoir. The dipstick is attached to the reservoir cap. The level can be checked with the fluid either warm or cold; the car should be parked on a level surface. Check the fluid level every 12 months or 7,500 miles, whichever comes first.
- With the engine off, unscrew the dipstick and check the level. If the engine is warm, the level should be between the Hot and Cold marks. If the engine is cold, the level should be between the Add and Cold marks.
- If the level is low, add power steering fluid until correct. Be careful not to overfill, which will cause fluid loss and seal damage.
