REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

  1. Disconnect the negative cable at the battery.
  2.  
  3. Remove the pad from the wheel. The horn pad may be secured to the steering wheel with retaining screws. The horn lead is attached to the pad at one end; the other end of the pad has a wire with a spade connector. The horn lead is disconnected by pushing and turning; the spade connector is simply unplugged.
  4.  
  5. Remove the retainer under the pad.
  6.  
  7. Remove the steering shaft nut.
  8.  
  9. There should be alignment marks already present on the wheel and shaft. If not, matchmark the parts.
  10.  
  11. Remove the wheel with a puller.
  12.  

To install:

  1. Install the wheel on the shaft, aligning the matchmarks. Install the shaft nut and tighten to 30 ft. lbs. (40 Nm).
  2.  
  3. Install the retainer.
  4.  
  5. Plug in the spade connector, and push and turn the horn lead to connect. Install the pad. Connect the negative battery cable.

  1. Disconnect the negative cable at the battery.
  2.  
  3. Pry the center cap from the wheel.
  4.  
  5. Remove the retainer.
  6.  
  7. Remove the shaft nut.
  8.  
  9. If the wheel and shaft do not have factory-installed alignment marks, matchmark the parts before removal of the wheel.
  10.  
  11. Install a puller and remove the wheel. A horn spring, eyelet and insulator are underneath; don't lose the parts.
  12.  
  13. Install the spring, eyelet and insulator into the tower on the column.
  14.  
  15. Align the matchmarks and install the wheel onto the shaft. Install the retaining nut and tighten to 30 ft. lbs. (40 Nm).
  16.  
  17. Install the retainer. Install the center cap. Connect the negative battery cable.
