Except California Vehicles With Inline 6-Cylinder Engine
  1. Raise and support the vehicle safely.
  2.  
  3. Remove the clamp at the front of the converter, then cut the pipe at the front of the converter.
  4.  
  5. Remove the converter-to-intermediate pipe nuts/bolts.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the converter-to-crossover pipe or front pipe.
  8.  

Always install the catalytic converter into its original position in the exhaust system, the body has heat shields installed in those areas to protect the chassis from the extreme temperatures created by the converter.

  1. To install, add sealer to the connecting surfaces, use new clamps and nuts/bolts, assemble the system, check the clearances and tighten all of the attachments.

California Vehicles With Inline 6-Cylinder Engine

This vehicle has a catalytic converter mounted to the exhaust manifold in addition to the one under the floor.

  1. Raise and support the vehicle safely.
  2.  
  3. Remove the manifold converter-to-front pipe.
  4.  
  5. Remove the manifold converter-to-exhaust manifold nuts.
  6.  
  7. Remove the underfloor converter from the hanger and lower the front pipe with the manifold converter.
  8.  
  9. Remove the manifold converter from the front pipe.
  10.  
  11. To install, add sealer to the connecting surfaces, use new claps and nuts/bolts, assemble the system, check the clearances and tighten all of the attachments.
