The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) is stamped on a plate located on the top left-hand side of the instrument panel, so it can be seen by looking through the windshield.

The VIN is a thirteen digit (1968-78)

Model years appear in the VIN as the last digit of each particular year. (6 is 1976, 8 is 1978, etc.)
