The fluid level of the power steering pump reservoir should be checked every 6,000 miles or four months. The fluid should be at operating temperature and the front wheels should be in the straight-ahead position before checking. Remove the reservoir cap, to which the reservoir dipstick is attached, wipe the dipstick clean, and reinsert the dipstick. Withdraw the dipstick and note the fluid level reading. If necessary, add power steering fluid or Dexron® type automatic transmission fluid to correct the fluid level. Replace the reservoir cap/dipstick.
