REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



Closed Style Window Frame
1968-70 MODELS

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Remove the door panel.
  2.  
  3. If equipped, remove the front door ventilator. Loosen the window glass run channel lower retaining bolt. Remove the inner panel cam.
  4.  
  5. Slide the window lower sash channel cam off the window regulator lift arm and balance the arm rollers at the same time.
  6.  
  7. Remove the window outboard of the door upper frame and the window assembly.
  8.  
  9. Installation is the reverse of the service removal procedure.
  10.  

1971-76 MODELS
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Remove the door panel.
  2.  
  3. Loosen the window stabilizer strips. Place the window in the 3 / 4 down position.
  4.  
  5. Remove the window lower sash channel cam to glass retaining stud nuts. Tilt the front edge of the glass downward. Remove the inboard of the door upper frame and the window.
  6.  
  7. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure. Adjust the window, as required.

1977-79 MODELS

  1. Close the window and tape the glass to the door frame. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Remove the door panel.
  2.  
  3. Remove the bolts retaining the lower sash channel to the regulator sash. On coupe doors, remove the rubber down stop at the bottom of the door.
  4.  
  5. Attach the window regulator and lower the window regulator to the full down position. Remove the regulator sash.
  6.  
  7. While supporting the glass, remove the tape and lower the window to the full down position. Slide the glass forward and remove the guide clip from the window run channel.
  8.  
  9. Raise the glass while tilting it forward and remove it from the vehicle.
  10.  
  11. Installation is the reverse of the service removal procedure.

Open Style Window Frame
1968-70 MODELS
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Remove the door panel. Lower the window to the full down position. Remove the up-travel stop from the lower sash channel.
  2.  
  3. Roll the window 1 / 2 way up and remove the bolts that secure the lower window sash channel to the rear run channel guide plate. Disengage the guide plate from the sash channel.
  4.  
  5. Roll the window completely up. Remove the inner panel cam bolts. Tilt the upper corner of the glass inboard and rotate the glass counterclockwise until the lower sash channel cam is close to being parallel with the beltline.
  6.  
  7. Slide the glass rearward and disengage it from the regulator lift arm. Remove the glass from the vehicle.
  8.  
  9. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure. Adjust the glass, as required.
  10.  

1971-76 MODELS
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Remove the door panel.
  2.  
  3. Remove the front and rear up-travel stops and stabilizer strips. Remove the glass bearing plate adjusting stud nut.
  4.  
  5. Turn the adjusting stud clockwise until the bearing plate is out of contact with the bearing button on the glass.
  6.  
  7. Remove the lower sash guide plate assembly to glass retaining bolts. Tilt the upper edge of the glass inboard to disengage it from the guide plate.
  8.  
  9. Remove the window glass from the vehicle by lifting straight up.
  10.  
  11. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure. Adjust the glass, as required.
  12.  

ADJUSTMENT PROCEDURE



  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Remove the door panel.
  2.  
  3. To rotate the window, loosen the front and rear up-stops, adjust the inner panel cam and the up-stops, then tighten the screws.
  4.  
  5. To adjust the window's upper inboard and outboard edge, perform the following procedures:
  6.  
    1. Position the window in the partially down position.
    2.  
    3. Loosen the vertical guide upper support (lower) screws, which are accessible through the inner panel access holes.
    4.  
    5. Loosen the pin assembly screws, the rear up-stop screw and the front belt stabilizer screw.
    6.  
    7. Adjust the vertical guide upper support and pin assembly (in or out as required, then tighten the screws, adjust and tighten the other components.
    8.  


When adjusting glass, make sure that it remains inboard of the blow-out clip, when cycled.

  1. If the window is too far forward or rearward, position the window partially down, loosen the vertical guide (upper and lower) screws, then adjust as required.
  2.  
  3. If the window is too high or low in it's Up position, adjust the front and rear up-travel stops.
  4.  
  5. If the window is too high or low in the Down position, adjust the down-travel stop.
  6.  
  7. If the window binds during the up and down operation, adjust the front and/or rear belt stabilizer pin assemblies.
