REMOVAL & INSTALLATION
All 1969 and later models have the ignition lock cylinder located on the upper right-side of the steering column. The ignition switch is inside the channel section of the brake pedal support. The switch is inaccessible unless the steering column is lowered.
- Lower the steering column. The column must be carefully supported to prevent damage.
- Remove the lock cylinder using the procedure for 1968 models which is in .
Pull the actuating rod for the switch up until a definite stop is felt, then push it down one detent to the Lock position.
- Remove the two switch screws and the switch assembly.
- On installation, make sure that the switch and the lock are in the LOCK position. Do not use switch screws longer than the originals or the energy absorbing function of the column may be lost.
