Door Glass and Regulator (Manual and Electric)

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



See Figures 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the door trim panel and plastic sound shield.
  4.

  1. Remove the inner belt molding as follows:
    1. Peel the upper corner seals away from the inner belt molding.
    2.  
    3. Pull the inner belt molding upward to disengage the retaining channel in bottom of molding from the door panel flange.

  3. Remove the outer belt molding as follows:
    1. Roll down the door glass.
    2.  
    3. Using a hook tool, disengage the interlocking lip at the base of the inward edge of the belt molding. Remove the molding from the door.

  5. If equipped, remove the radio speaker.
  6.  
  7. Position the glass to gain access to the front and rear regulator lift plates through the front and rear door panel access holes.

  1. Remove the clips securing the door glass to the regulator lift plates.
  2.  
  3. Separate the glass from the regulator lift plates and from the glass run weatherstrip.
  4.  
  5. Insert the front of the glass between the glass run channel and outer door panel.
  6.  
  7. Remove the glass from the vehicle by lifting the glass upward and out of the exterior side of the opening at the top of the door.
  8.  
  9. Disengage the wiring connector from the power window motor, if equipped.
  10.

  1. Loosen screws attaching the front and rear window guide rails to the inner door panel.
  2.  
  3. Remove screw heads on the guide rails from key hole slots in inner door panel.
  4.  
  5. Loosen screws attaching regulator to inner door panel.
  6.  
  7. Remove the regulator from the inner door panel.
  8.  
  9. Extract the front and rear guide rails through the front and rear access holes.
  10.  

To install:
  1. Insert the front and rear guide rails through the front and rear access holes.
  2.  
  3. Position the window regulator in place against the inner door panel.
  4.  
  5. Place screw heads on guide rails in position through key hole slots in inner door panel.
  6.  
  7. Tighten the screws to attach front and rear guide rails to inner door panel.
  8.  
  9. Engage the wiring connector to the power window motor, if equipped.
  10.  
  11. Install clips that attach the door glass to the window regulator lift plates.
  12.  
  13. Install the glass through the window opening with the front inserted between the run channel and outer door panel.
  14.  
  15. Lower the glass downward into the door.
  16.  
  17. Install the ends of the glass into the glass run weatherstrip channels at the front and rear of door.
  18.  
  19. Place the glass in position on regulator lift plates.
  20.  
  21. Snap the glass mounting studs into clips on the regulator lift plates.
  22.  
  23. If equipped, install the radio speaker.
  24.  
  25. Install the inner and outer belt moldings.
  26.  
  27. Verify door glass operation and fit.
  28.  
  29. Install the plastic sound shield and door trim panel.
  30.  
  31. Connect the negative battery cable.
