REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the wiper arm and blade assemblies.
  4.  
  5. Remove the cowl cover from the vehicle as follows:
    1. Close the hood to aid in the removal procedure.
    2.  
    3. Remove the lower area cowl cover-to-wiper module mounting screws.
    4.  
    5. Disengage the quarter turn fasteners securing the outer ends of the cowl cover to the wiper module.
    6.  
    7. Open the hood.
    8.  
    9. Remove the wing nuts securing the front of the cowl cover to the wiper module.
    10.  
    11. Using a small flat bladed tool, disengage the retainers securing the cowl cover to the front fender edge.
    12.  
    13. Raise up the cowl cover enough to gain access to the right side washer hose and disconnect from the right washer nozzle.
    14.  
    15. Close the hood, but do not latch. Remove the cowl cover from the vehicle.

  7. Open the hood. Disconnect the positive lock on the wiper unit electrical connector.
  8.  
  9. Disconnect the wiper unit electrical connector from the engine compartment wiring harness.
  10.

  1. Disconnect the windshield washer hose from the hose coupling inside the wiper unit.
  2.  
  3. Remove the drain tubes from the bottom of the wiper unit.
  4.  
  5. Remove the sound absorbers from the ends of the wiper unit.
  6.  
  7. Remove the attaching nuts securing the wiper unit to the lower windshield fence.
  8.  
  9. Remove the attaching bolts securing the wiper unit to the dash panel.
  10.  
  11. Raise up the wiper unit from the from the weld-studs on the lower windshield fence and remove the wiper unit from the vehicle.
  12.  
  13. Place the wiper unit on a solid, level working surface. Remove the cowl cover brackets from the wiper unit.
  14.  
  15. Remove the attaching nuts securing the wiper linkage and wiper motor mount plate to the wiper unit.
  16.  
  17. Remove the wiper linkage from the wiper unit.
  18.  
  19. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the wiper motor.
  20.  
  21. Disconnect the wiper linkage from the wiper motor crank, but do NOT remove the crank from the wiper motor.
  22.  
  23. Remove the attaching bolts that secure the wiper motor to the mount plate and remove the wiper motor.
  24.  

To install:
  1. Place the wiper motor onto the mounting plate and secure in position with the mounting bolts.
  2.  
  3. Install the wiper motor mount plate and wiper linkage into the wiper unit. Install and tighten the attaching nuts.
  4.  
  5. Install the cowl cover brackets onto the wiper unit and tighten the attaching nuts.
  6.  
  7. Reconnect the wiper motor electrical connectors.
  8.  
  9. Install the wiper unit into the vehicle engine compartment and be sure the wiper unit is installed properly over the weld-studs on the lower windshield fence. Install and tighten the attaching nuts to the weld-studs.

  1. Install and tighten the attaching bolts securing the wiper unit to the dash panel.
  2.  
  3. Install the sound absorbers to each end of the wiper unit.
  4.  
  5. Install the drain tubes to the bottom of the wiper unit and reconnect the windshield washer hose to the hose coupling
  6.  

inside the wiper unit.

  1. Reconnect the wiper unit wiring connector to the engine wiring harness.
  2.  
  3. Place the cowl cover onto the vehicle. Reconnect the right side windshield washer hose to the right washer nozzle located on the underside of the cowl cover.
  4.  
  5. Engage the retainers that secure the cowl cover to the front fender edge.
  6.  
  7. Install and tighten the wing nuts that secure the front of the cowl cover to the wiper module.
  8.  
  9. Engage the quarter turn fasteners that secure the outer ends of the cowl cover to the wiper module.
  10.  
  11. Install and tighten the screws that hold the lower area of the cowl cover to the wiper module.
  12.  
  13. Reconnect the negative battery cable and verify that the wiper motor and wiper linkage are in the
  14.  

PARK

position.

  1. Install the wiper arm and blade assemblies.
  2.  
  3. Operate the windshield wipers and check to make sure they work and park properly.
  4.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the rear wiper arm.
  4.  
  5. Open the liftgate.
  6.  
  7. Remove the interior liftgate trim panel.
  8.

  1. Disengage the wiring harness connector from the rear wiper motor.
  2.  
  3. Remove the rear wiper motor mounting screws.
  4.  
  5. Remove the rear wiper motor from the liftgate.
  6.  
  7. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
