Automatic Idle Speed (AIS) Motor Assembly

The Automatic Idle Speed (AIS) motor is sometimes referred to as the Idle Air Control Motor (IACM).

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

  1. Remove air cleaner.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect negative battery cable.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect 4 pin connector on AIS.
  6.  
  7. Remove temperature sensor from throttle body housing.
  8.  
  9. Remove 2 Torx® head screws.
  10.  
  11. Remove AIS from throttle body housing, making sure that O-ring is with AIS.
  12.  

To install:
  1. Be sure that pintle is in the retracted position. If pintle measures more than 1 in. (25mm), it must be retracted by using ATM test code No. 03. (battery must be connected for this operation.)
  2.  
  3. Install new O-ring on AIS.
  4.  
  5. Install AIS into housing making sure O-ring is in place.
  6.  
  7. Install 2 Torx® head screws.
  8.  
  9. Connect 4 pin connector to AIS.
  10.  
  11. Install temperature sending unit into throttle body housing.
  12.  
  13. Connect negative battery cable.
  14.
