Engine Mounts

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Using an engine support fixture tool, center it on the cowl and attach it to the engine. Raise the engine slightly to take the weight off of the engine mounts.
  4.  
  5. From the front of the engine, remove the engine mount bolts and the mount.
  6.  
  7. Inspect the engine mount for deterioration and replace it, if necessary.
  8.  

To install:
  1. To install, support the engine using a engine support fixture tool.
  2.  
  3. Install the engine mounts and the retaining bolts to the engine.
  4.  
  5. Torque the engine mount-to-bracket bolts to 36-47 ft. lbs. (50-65 Nm) and the mount through bolt to 65-80 ft. lbs. (90-110 Nm).
  6.  
  7. Connect the negative battery cable.
  8.  

1992-93 Vista
  1. Insert a piece of wood between a jack and oil pan. Place a jack against the oil pan to support the engine assembly.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the power steering pressure and return hoses. Catch the fluid with a drain pan.
  4.  
  5. Remove the engine mount insulator bolt.
  6.  
  7. Remove the engine mount bracket and stopper.
  8.  

To install:
  1. Install the engine mount stopper and bracket so the arrow faces the center part of the engine.
  2.  
  3. Torque the mounting bolt to 25 ft. lbs. (35 Nm) and the bracket nuts to 42 ft. lbs. (58 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Install the power steering pump pressure and return hoses.
  6.  
  7. Install the remaining components, start the engine and check for leaks and proper operation.
