Except 1992-93 Vista
  1. Raise and safely support the vehicle; allow the suspension to hang free. Remove the left front wheel assembly.
  2.
  3. Disconnect the stabilizer link bolts and nuts from the control arms. Disconnect the stabilizer shaft from the support assemblies.
  4.
  5. Loosen the front bolts and remove the bolts from the rear and center of the support assemblies, allowing the supports to be lowered enough to remove the stabilizer bar assembly. Remove the assembly from the vehicle.
  6.

To install:
  1. Installation is the reverse order of the removal procedures. Loosely assemble all components while insuring that the stabilizer bar is centered, side-to-side. Torque the stabilizer bar support assemblies to 9 ft. lbs. (13 Nm).
  2.
  3. Lower the vehicle.
  4.

1992-93 Vista
4WD
  1. Raise the vehicle and support safely. Remove the front wheels.
  2.
  3. Remove the driveshaft (4WD) as outlined in the Driveshaft and U-joint section. Disconnect the exhaust pipe from the manifold.
  4.
  5. Remove the stabilizer outer links nuts.
  6.
  7. Remove the frame bolts, bracket and bushings.
  8.
  9. Remove the stabilizer bar and bushings.
  10.

To install:
  1. Install the stabilizer bar and hardware. Align the left edge of the marking on the stabilizer bar with the edge of the stabilizer bushing. Torque the frame bolts to 16 ft. lbs. (22 Nm), link nuts to 29 ft. lbs. (40 Nm) and the exhaust pipe nuts to 33 ft. lbs. (44 Nm).
  2.
  3. Install the driveshaft (4WD).
  4.

2WD
  1. Raise the vehicle and support safely. Remove the front wheels.
  2.
  3. Remove the nut and disconnect the tie rod ends with separator tool MB991113, or equivalent.
  4.
  5. Hold the link bolt still and remove the bushing nut.
  6.
  7. Support the engine with a jack. Remove the center crossmember bolts and lower to gain enough run to remove the stabilizer bar.
  8.
  9. Remove the frame, bolts, brackets and bushings.
  10.
  11. Remove the stabilizer bar from the vehicle.
  12.

To install:
  1. Install the stabilizer bar. Position the bar so that the projecting lengths of the marking from the fixture are at the measurement of 0.27 in. (7mm). Torque the bracket bolts to 16 ft. lbs. (22 Nm).
  2.
  3. Install the bushings, washer and nut. Torque the self-locking nut so that 0.3-0.4 in. (8-10mm) is between the washer and top of the link bolt.
  4.
  5. Install the remaining components. Torque the tie rod end nut to 17-25 ft. lbs. (24-34 Nm) and the crossmember bolts to 51 ft. lbs. (70 Nm).
  6.
  7. Align the front end.
