REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

Colt wo/Air Conditioning
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Remove the glove box and parcel tray.

  1. Disconnect the changeover control wire and duct.
  2.  
  3. Remove the blower case.
  4.  
  5. Unbolt and remove the blower motor from the case.
  6.  
  7. The fan is removable from the motor shaft.
  8.  
  9. Install the fan to the blower motor shaft. Install the blower motor and case. Connect the control wire and duct. Install the glove box and parcel tray. Connect the battery cable.

Colt w/Air Conditioning
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the glove box assembly and pry off the speaker cover to the lower right of the glove box.
  4.  
  5. Remove the passenger side lower cowl side trim kick panel.
  6.  
  7. Remove the passenger side knee protector, which is the panel surrounding the glove box opening.
  8.  
  9. Remove the glove frame along the top of glove box opening.
  10.  
  11. Remove the lap heater duct. This is a small piece on vehicles without a rear heater and much larger on vehicles with a rear heater.
  12.  
  13. Disconnect the electrical connector from the blower motor.
  14.  
  15. Remove the cooling tube from the blower assembly.
  16.  
  17. Remove the MPI computer from the lower side of the cowl.
  18.  
  19. Remove the blower motor assembly and disassemble on a workbench.
  20.  

To install:
  1. Assemble the motor and fan. Install the blower motor assembly and connect the wiring and cooling tube.
  2.  
  3. Install the MPI computer.
  4.  
  5. Install the lap heater duct.
  6.  
  7. Install the glove box frame, interior trim pieces and glove box assembly.
  8.  
  9. Connect the negative battery cable and check the entire climate control system for proper operation.
  10.  

Vista wo/Air Conditioning
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Remove the upper and lower glove boxes.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the wiring and duct from the blower assembly.
  4.  
  5. Remove the blower motor mounting bolts and lift out the motor. If the entire blower case is to be removed, the instrument panel will have to be removed first.
  6.  
  7. Install the blower motor. Connect the wiring and duct. Install the glove boxes and connect the battery cable.
  8.  

Vista w/Air Conditioning
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the instrument panel under cover and glove box assembly(s).
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the resistor and blower motor wire connectors, if necessary.
  6.  
  7. Remove the motor cooling tube. Remove the absorber bracket.
  8.  
  9. Remove the attaching screws and remove the blower assembly from the blower case and disassemble.
  10.  

To install:
  1. Position the blower motor onto the blower case and install the attaching screws.
  2.  
  3. Install the absorber bracket, if removed. Install the cooling tube.
  4.  
  5. Connect the resistor and blower motor wire connector.
  6.  
  7. Install the glove box(s) and instrument panel under cover.
  8.  
  9. Connect the negative battery cable and check the blower for proper operation.
  10.
