REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



4WD Vista
  1. Raise and safely support the rear of the vehicle, with the suspension hanging free.
  2.  
  3. Remove the rear wheels.
  4.  
  5. Remove the brake drums.
  6.  
  7. Remove the bolts securing the axle flange to the intermediate shaft flange.
  8.  
  9. Remove the axle flange nut.
  10.  
  11. Use a slide hammer puller, and remove the axleshaft from the housing.
  12.  
  13. Remove the lower control arm.
  14.  
  15. Remove the dust cover and outer wheel bearing and seal from the axleshaft with an appropriate puller.
  16.  
  17. Press the inner bearing and seal from the housing. Pack the new bearing with grease and press into place.
  18.  
  19. Install the new inner bearing seal.
  20.  
  21. Install the dust cover into place evenly in the housing.
  22.  
  23. Coat the lip of a new seal and pack the outer bearing with grease.
  24.  
  25. Press in the bearing and seal.
  26.  
  27. Press the axleshaft into the inner arm.
  28.  
  29. Install the inner arm assembly.
  30.  
  31. Install the companion flange and nut. Torque the nut to 160 ft. lbs.
  32.  
  33. Connect the intermediate shaft and axleshaft. Torque the bolts to 43 ft. lbs.
