  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. Remove the center pad retaining screws located on the back of the wheel on some models, or pull off the horn pad using steady pressure.

  3. Paint or chalk matchmarks on the steering shaft and the steering wheel so that they can be correctly reinstalled.
  4.  
  5. Unscrew the hub nut and, using a puller, remove the steering wheel.
  6.  

Don't hammer or otherwise pound on the steering column, as it is collapsible.

  1. Align the matchmarks and install the steering wheel. Torque the nut to 30 ft. lbs. Install the horn pad and connect the battery cable.
