Type A and C Gauge

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Disarm the air bag system.
  2.  

  1. Remove the instrument cluster from the instrument panel.
  2.  
  3. Remove the six back cover retaining screws and the cover from the cluster.
  4.  

  1. Disconnect the transmission range indicator and odometer connectors from the printed circuit board.
  2.  
  3. Remove the lens retaining screws and the lens cover.
  4.  
  5. Remove the trip odometer reset knob by gently pulling rearward.
  6.  
  7. Remove the speedometer/tachometer assembly from the cluster.
  8.  

The speedometer/tachometer assembly and the transaxle range indicator is serviced as one component.

  1. Remove the four odometer retaining screws from the speedometer, then remove the odometer.
  2.  

To install:
  1. Attach the odometer to the speedometer.
  2.  
  3. Install the speedometer/tachometer assembly into the cluster unit. Install the trip odometer reset knob.
  4.  
  5. Install the lens cover and secure using the four retainer screws.
  6.  
  7. Reconnect the transmission range indicator and odometer connectors to the printed circuit board.
  8.  
  9. Install the cover and the six retaining screws to the back of the cluster.
  10.  
  11. Install the instrument cluster assembly to the instrument panel and connect the negative battery terminal. Check for proper operation of the instrument cluster gauges and speedometer.

Type B Gauge

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Disarm the air bag system.
  2.  

  1. Remove the instrument cluster from the instrument panel.
  2.  

  1. Remove the trip odometer reset knob by gently pulling rearward.
  2.  
  3. Remove the five cluster back cover retainer screws and remove the rear cover from the cluster.
  4.  

  1. Disconnect the transmission range indicator and odometer connectors from the printed circuit board.
  2.  
  3. Remove the four lens retaining screws and remove the lens cover.
  4.  
  5. Remove the tachometer and the fuel/temperature gauge from the cluster.
  6.  
  7. Remove the speedometer from the cluster.
  8.  
  9. Remove the odometer from the speedometer.
  10.  

To install:
  1. Attach the odometer to the speedometer.
  2.  
  3. Install the speedometer, tachometer and the fuel/temperature gauge into the cluster.
  4.  
  5. Install the lens cover and secure with the four lens retainer screws.
  6.  
  7. Connect the transmission range indicator and odometer connectors to the printed circuit board.
  8.  
  9. Install the cluster back cover and the five retaining screws.
  10.  
  11. Install the trip odometer reset knob.
  12.  
  13. Install the cluster assembly into the instrument panel.
  14.  
  15. Connect the negative battery cable and check for proper operation of the instrument cluster gauges and speedometer.
