Over Head Console Lamp

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



There are three types of overhead console lamps, the full, mini and base units. The Overhead Travel Information System (OTIS) is part of the full and mini console units.

Base Unit

See Figures 1, 2, 3 and 4

  1. Grasp both outer sides and pull downwards to disconnect the retaining clips.
  2.  
  3. Detach the wiring harness connected to the lamp assembly.
  4.  
  5. Lower the unit. Replace the bulb if necessary.
  6.  

To install:
  1. Attach the wiring to the lamp.
  2.  
  3. Snap the lamp into place in the headliner.
  4.  
  5. Check the operation of the system.
  6.  

Full Console

  1. Open the garage door opener and sun glass holder compartments in the console.
  2.  
  3. Remove the two screws from the sun glass holder compartment.
  4.  
  5. Remove the one screw from the garage door opener compartment and remove the transmitter if necessary.
  6.  
  7. Pull down gently at the rear of the console to disconnect the console from the mounting bracket.
  8.  
  9. Disconnect the wiring to the lamp, then lower the unit. Replace the bulbs if needed.
  10.  

To install:
  1. Attach the wiring to the lamp, then place the unit back into the headliner.
  2.  
  3. Place the transmitter into the garage door opener compartment and secure with the mounting screw.
  4.  
  5. Install the two screws removed from the sun glass compartment.
  6.  
  7. Close the console compartments, then check the operation of the unit.
  8.  

Mini Console

  1. Remove the screw from the windshield side of the console.
  2.  
  3. Grasp the front of the console and pull downward to disconnect the retaining clips.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the wiring harness attached to the lamp. Replace the bulbs if necessary.
  6.  

To install:
  1. Attach the wiring to the lamp assembly.
  2.  
  3. Snap the lamp into place in the headliner.
  4.  
  5. Check the operation of the system.
  6.
