REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

  1. Slightly loosen the rear lug nuts.
  2.
  3. Raise and safely support the rear of the vehicle on jackstands. Remove the tire and wheel assembly.
  4.
  5. Remove the dust cap, cotter pin, washer, locknut and adjusting nut, then remove the brake drum. Next remove the rear hub and bearing from the spindle assembly.
  6.
  7. Remove the brake shoes from the backing plate.

  9. Position a 1 / 2 inch box wrench over the retainer fingers on the end of the parking brake cable. Compress the cable housing retaining fingers and start the housing out of the support plate. Remove the wrench when the retainer is free from the parking brake cable mounting hole in the backing plate. The alternate method is to use an aircraft type hose clamp over the cable housing end fitting and compressing the three fingers.
