Rear Crossmember

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



  1. Raise and safely support the vehicle. Remove both rear tire and wheel assemblies.
  2.  
  3. Remove the nuts and bolts attaching the lateral links to the spindle.
  4.  
  5. Position a transmission jack under the fuel tank just forward of the crossmember to help support the fuel tank when crossmember is removed.
  6.  
  7. Remove the four crossmember to frame rail attaching bolts and remove the crossmember and lateral links as an assembly.
  8.  

To install:
  1. Transfer lateral links to replacement crossmember. The adjustable lateral link is to be positioned to the rear of the vehicle on crossmember. Tighten the lateral link to crossmember attaching bolts to 105 ft. lbs. (140 Nm). Make sure the bolts are installed with the heads facing toward the front of the vehicle.
  2.  
  3. Position the crossmember on the frame rails and tighten crossmember mounting bolts to 70 ft. lbs. (95 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Align the lateral links with spindles and install the attaching bolts. Tighten the lateral link to spindle attaching bolts to 105 ft. lbs. (140 Nm).
  6.  
  7. Remove the transmission jack supporting the fuel tank.
  8.  
  9. Install the tire and wheel assemblies onto the vehicle and lower vehicle to the ground.
  10.  
  11. Have the rear wheel toe set to specifications, as required.
