The computer regulated, Multi-Point Fuel Injection (MFI) system provides a precise air/fuel mixture ratio for all driving conditions. The fuel injection system is controlled by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).

For complete explanation of the electrical aspect of the MFI system, refer to elsewhere in this information.

The fuel system consists of the fuel tank, fuel pump, fuel filter, throttle body, 4 fuel injectors, fuel tubes and vacuum tubes. The fuel system is kept under a constant pressure of 53-57 psi (366-394 kPa) for all MFI engines (2.5L Flex Fuel, 2.5L Turbo I and 2.2L Turbo I, II, III, and IV engines). Make sure to relieve the fuel system pressure before servicing any MFI component.
