1981-88 Models
AK BODY VEHICLES

The AK body vehicles include some LeBaron, all Town & Country, 400, some 600, all Aries, Reliant, Executive and Executive Limousine models. For more information, refer to Routine Maintenance .

  1. Remove the bezel.
  2.  
  3. If equipped with a mono (single) speaker, remove the instrument panel top cover, speaker, and detach the wires from the radio.
  4.  
  5. Remove the two screws attaching the radio to the base panel.
  6.  
  7. Pull the radio through the front of the base, then detach the wiring harness, antenna lead and ground strap.
  8.  

To install:
  1. Position the radio in front of the base, then attach the wiring harness, antenna lead and ground strap to it.
  2.  
  3. Install and tighten the two attaching screws until snug.
  4.  
  5. The remainder of installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
  6.  
  7. Connect the negative battery cable, sit back and enjoy the tunes.
  8.  

AG AND AJ BODY VEHICLES

The AG and AJ body vehicles include some LeBaron and all Daytona models. For more information, refer to Routine Maintenance .

  1. Remove the two screws from the bottom of the console trim bezel, then lift the bezel out of the console.
  2.  
  3. Remove the two attaching screws fastening the radio to the console.
  4.  
  5. Pull the radio through the front face of the console far enough for access to the wiring, then detach the wiring harness, antenna lead, and ground strap. Remove the radio.
  6.  

To install:
  1. Position the radio in front of the base, then attach the wiring harness, antenna lead and ground strap to it.
  2.  
  3. Install and tighten the two attaching screws until snug.
  4.  
  5. The remainder of installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
  6.  
  7. Connect the negative battery cable and crank up the music.
  8.  

AH BODY VEHICLES

The AH body vehicles include all LeBaron GTS and Lancer models. For more information, refer to Routine Maintenance .

  1. Remove the instrument cluster bezel, then remove the two radio attaching screws.
  2.  
  3. Detach the wiring connectors and antenna cable.
  4.  
  5. Remove the ground strap attaching screw. Remove the radio.
  6.  

To install:
  1. Position the radio in front of the base, then attach the wiring harness, antenna lead and ground strap to it.
  2.  
  3. Install and tighten the two attaching screws until snug.
  4.  
  5. The remainder of installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
  6.  
  7. Connect the negative battery cable, turn the radio ON and groove to the music.
  8.  

AP BODY VEHICLES

The AP body vehicles include all Shadow and Sundance models. For more information, refer to Routine Maintenance .

  1. Remove the center module bezel.
  2.  
  3. If the car has a short console, remove the lower center module cover. If the car has a full-length console, remove the right console sidewall.
  4.  
  5. Remove the two radio mounting screws and pull it out of the dash far enough to reach the wiring. Disconnect the power wiring and the antenna cable. Detach the ground strap and remove the radio.
  6.  

To install:
  1. Position the radio in front of the base, then attach the wiring harness, antenna lead and ground strap to it.
  2.  
  3. Install and tighten the two attaching screws until snug.
  4.  
  5. The remainder of installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
  6.  
  7. Connect the negative battery cable, sit back and enjoy the tunes.
  8.  

1989-95 Models

On vehicles equipped with a compact disc player or graphic equalizer assembly, removal and installation procedures are the same as for the radio/tape player.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the console, cluster bezel or any trim panels to gain access to the front of the radio, as required.
  4.  
  5. Remove the screws that attach the radio to the instrument panel.
  6.  
  7. Slightly pull the radio out of the dashboard. Unplug and label the electrical wiring connectors, ground cable and antenna. Remove the radio.
  8.  
  9. If the radio is tandem-mounted with a graphic equalizer or CD player, loosen and remove the bracket screws holding the components in the mounting bracket. Unplug any electrical wiring connecting the two components. Remove the radio and other component out of the mounting bracket.
  10.  

To install:
  1. If equipped with two components, install both into the mounting bracket. Attach any electrical wiring connecting the two components. Secure the components in the bracket with the retaining screws.
  2.  
  3. Attach all of the electrical wiring connectors, the ground cable and the antenna cable.
  4.  
  5. Slide the radio into the dashboard until the mounting holes match up with the screw holes in the dashboard.
  6.  
  7. Install the screws and tighten until snug.
  8.  
  9. Install the cluster bezel or console.
  10.  
  11. Connect the negative battery cable and check all functions of the radio for proper operation.
