Chrysler Front Wheel Drive Cars 4-CYL 1981-1995 Repair Information

See Figure 1

All Chrysler front wheel drive cars use a MacPherson strut type front suspension, with vertical struts (shock absorbers) attached to the upper fender reinforcement and the steering knuckle. Lower control arms, attached inboard to a crossmember and outboard to the steering knuckle through a ball joint, provide lower steering knuckle position. During steering maneuvers, the upper strut (through a pivot bearing in the upper retainer assembly) and steering knuckle turn as an assembly.
