A temperature control cable is used on non-Automatic Temperature Control (ATC) heat or heater-A/C systems only. ATC systems use an electrically operated temperature control.

  1. Remove the heater-A/C control panel assembly by referring to the appropriate procedure later in this section. Disconnect the cable attaching flag from the heater-A/C control and remove the cable from the control panel.
  2.
  3. Locate and detach the cable attaching flag on the bottom of the heater-A/C housing behind the floor air duct.
  4.
  5. Slip the cable self-adjusting clip downward from the blend-air door crank.
  6.
  7. Insert a 3 / 16 in. (5mm) diameter tool (hardened punch or prytool) into the crank pin access hole and rotate the clip from the cable.
  8.

To install:
  1. Install the self-adjusting clip back onto the cable by using the drill bit again. Rotate the clip back onto the cable.
  2.
  3. Slip the self-adjusting clip back onto the blend-air door crank.
  4.
  5. Push the cable attaching flags back into their respective flag receiver.
  6.
  7. To adjust the temperature cable, position the TEMP lever on the control to the cool side of its travel. Allowing the self-adjusting clip to slide on the cable, rotate the blend-air door crank counterclockwise by hand until it stops.
  8.
  9. Install the heater-A/C control panel assembly.
