The only vehicles equipped with an Ignition Control Module (ICM), which is separate from the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) or Single Board Engine Controller (SBEC), are the 1988-91 Premier and Monaco with conventional ignition systems. For vehicles other than the Premier and Monaco, refer to Driveability & Emissions Controls for removal and installation of the PCM or SBEC.
REMOVAL & INSTALLATION
Since the ICM and the coil are two parts of the same component, they are serviced together; when one part is bad, both must be replaced with a new assembly. For removal and installation procedures of the ICM, refer to the ignition coil removal and installation procedures earlier in this section.
