REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



1967-72 Models

See Figure 1

  1. Unplug the antenna wire from the radio.
  2.  
  3. Remove the antenna wire from the clips on the cowl plenum panel, pedal support and stop bracket.
  4.

  1. Remove the cap nut from the antenna.
  2.  
  3. Remove the antenna assembly from under the fender opening.
  4.  

To install:
  1. Insert the antenna into the fender opening, then install the cap nut and tighten.
  2.  
  3. Install the wire clips onto the cowl plenum.
  4.  
  5. Insert the antenna wire jack into the rear of the radio.
  6.  

1973-88 Models

See Figure 2

  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the glove box.
  4.  
  5. Reach behind the instrument panel and unplug the antenna lead from the radio.
  6.

  1. Reach through the glove box opening and pull the antenna lead out of the retainer clip.
  2.  
  3. Open the right door and remove the cable grommet from the A-pillar.
  4.  
  5. Pull the cable from the A-pillar.
  6.  
  7. Loosen, but do not remove, the antenna mast.
  8.  
  9. Loosen the cap nut on the adapter.
  10.  
  11. Hold the antenna mast in one hand and remove the cap nut with the other.
  12.  
  13. Lower the antenna far enough to gain access to the antenna body.
  14.  
  15. While holding the antenna body, remove the antenna mast.
  16.  
  17. Pull the antenna body and cable from the fender.
  18.  
  19. Remove the adapter from the fender.
  20.  

To install:
  1. Route the antenna cable between the fender and firewall to the A-pillar.
  2.  
  3. Insert the mast through the hole in the fender and screw it into the antenna body.
  4.  
  5. Pull the assembly into position and hold it there.
  6.  
  7. Install the adapter, then index the tab with the opening in the fender and antenna body.
  8.  
  9. Install the cap nut and tighten it securely.
  10.  
  11. Insert the cable through the opening in the A-pillar.
  12.  
  13. From inside the glove box opening, pull the cable in far enough to snap the grommet into place.
  14.  
  15. Route the cable through the clip and plug it into the radio.
  16.  
  17. Install the glove box.
  18.  
  19. Connect the battery ground cable.
  20.
