RAMCHARGER AND TRAIL DUSTER
  1. Remove both shift rod swivels from the transmission shift levers. Make sure that the transmission shift levers are in the neutral position (middle detent).
  2.
  3. Move the shift lever to align the locating slots in the bottom of the steering column shift housing and bearing housing.
  4.
  5. Place a suitable tool between the crossover blade and the 2nd-3rd lever at the steering column, so that both lever pins are engaged by the crossover blade.
  6.
  7. Set the 1st-reverse lever on the transmission to reverse position (rotate clockwise).
  8.
  9. Adjust the 1st-reverse rod swivel by loosening the clamp bolt and sliding the swivel along the rod so it will enter the 1st reverse lever at the transmission. Install the washers and the clip. Tighten the swivel bolt.
  10.
  11. Remove the gearshift housing locating tool, and shift the transmission into the neutral position.
  12.
  13. Adjust the 2nd-3rd rod swivel by loosening the clamp bolt and sliding the swivel along the rod so it will enter the 2nd-3rd lever at the transmission. Install the washers and the clip. Tighten the swivel bolt.

CLUTCH INTERLOCK

A-250 3-Speed

This adjustment is required only on the A-250 3-Speed transmission. This is a top cover unit used only as base equipment on light duty six cylinder models. It has synchromesh only on 2nd and 3rd gears.

  1. Disconnect the clutch rod swivel from the interlock pawl. Adjust the clutch pedal free-play.
  2.
  3. Shift the transmission to neutral. Loosen the swivel clamp bolt and slide the swivel onto the rod until the pawl is positioned fully within the slot in the 1st-reverse lever. Install the washers and clips.
  4.
  5. Hold the interlock pawl forward and tighten the swivel clamp bolt. The clutch pedal must be in full returned position during the adjustment.
  6.

Do not pull the clutch rod rearward to engage the swivel in the panel.

  1. Shift the transmission into 1st and reverse and release the clutch pedal while in either gear to check for normal clutch action. Next, shift halfway between neutral and either gear, then release clutch. The interlock should hold it to within one or two inches of the floor.
