REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



Powertrain Control Module (PCM)

The PCM is located in the right-rear side of the engine compartment. It is mounted to the dash cowl with three bolts.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the three module retaining bolts.
  4.  
  5. Remove the 60-way connectors from the controller.
  6.  

To install:

Check the 60-way connector for damaged or bent pins (and correct if any are found) prior to plugging it in.

  1. Plug in the 60-way connectors to the controller. Tighten the bolt to 35 inch lbs. (4 Nm).
  2.  
  3. Install and tighten the module retaining bolts to 9 inch lbs. (1 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Connect the negative battery cable.
  6.  

Ignition Control Module

The ICM is located in the engine compartment, mounted to the right inner fender behind the coolant reservoir/overflow tank.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the three bolts that secure the coolant reservoir/overflow tank to the inner fender. Leave the hose attached and the coolant in the tank and set it aside where it won't get tipped over.
  4.  
  5. Disengage the electrical connector at the ICM, then unscrew the two bolts securing the unit, and remove it from the vehicle.
  6.  

To install:
  1. Bolt the ICM back to the inner fender and plug in the electrical connector.
  2.  
  3. Install the coolant reserve/overflow tank.
  4.  
  5. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
  6.
